Setup

Follow these steps to properly install and connect your Shaking Tank ARGB and PWM Fan Hub.

  1. Placement: Utilize the magnetic back of the hub to securely attach it to any metal surface inside your PC case. This eliminates the need for adhesive tapes.
  2. Power Connection: Connect the provided SATA power cable from your power supply unit (PSU) to the SATA power input port on the fan hub. This ensures stable power delivery to all connected fans and ARGB devices.
  3. Fan Connections: Connect your 4-pin PWM fans to the 'PWM' ports and your 5V 3-pin ARGB devices (fans or LED strips) to the 'ARGB' ports on the hub. The hub supports up to nine of each type.
  4. Motherboard Synchronization (Optional): If your motherboard has a 5V 3-pin ARGB header, connect the provided Motherboard Sync Cable from the hub to this header. This allows you to control the ARGB lighting via your motherboard's software (e.g., ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light Sync, Gigabyte RGB Fusion, ASRock Polychrome Sync). Note: Do not connect to a 12V 4-pin RGB header as this can damage 5V ARGB devices.
  5. CPU Fan Header Connection (Optional for Temperature Control): Connect the 4PIN PWM cable from the hub to your motherboard's CPU FAN header. This enables the hub to receive CPU temperature signals, allowing connected fans to automatically adjust their speed based on CPU load and temperature. Ensure your primary CPU cooler fan is connected to the first PWM port on the hub for optimal temperature sensing.
  6. PC Reset Button Connection (Optional for Light Switching): You can connect your PC's reset button cable to the 'RESET' port on the hub. This allows you to cycle through lighting modes by pressing the PC's reset button. This connection is not mandatory for basic operation.

Operating Instructions

Once the hub is installed and connected, you can control your fans and lighting using the remote control or motherboard software.

Using the Remote Control

The included remote control allows for direct management of lighting effects and fan speeds. Ensure the remote's plastic battery tab is removed before first use.

  • On/Off: Power on or off the lighting.
  • Auto Mode: Cycles through various pre-programmed lighting effects.
  • Mode+/Mode-: Changes the lighting effect mode.
  • S+/S-: Adjusts the speed of the lighting effect (e.g., faster or slower transitions).
  • Static Color Keys: Selects a solid color for the ARGB lighting.
  • Brightness Control: Adjusts the brightness of the ARGB lighting.
  • Fan Speed Control: The remote may offer basic fan speed adjustments. For precise PWM control, ensure the hub is connected to the motherboard's CPU FAN header.

Motherboard Synchronization

If the hub is connected to your motherboard's 5V 3-pin ARGB header, you can control the lighting effects directly through your motherboard's RGB software. This allows for unified lighting across all compatible components in your system.

Temperature-Controlled Fan Operation

When connected to the CPU FAN header, the hub's PWM function allows fans to automatically adjust their speed based on the CPU temperature. This dynamic adjustment helps maintain optimal cooling performance while minimizing noise during lighter loads.

Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and optimal performance of your fan hub and connected components.

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the fan hub and fan blades to prevent dust buildup, which can hinder performance and airflow. Use compressed air or a soft, dry cloth. Ensure the PC is powered off and unplugged before cleaning.
  • Cable Management: Ensure all cables are neatly routed and secured to prevent interference with other components or airflow.
  • Environmental Conditions: Operate the PC in a well-ventilated area to prevent overheating. Avoid exposing the hub to extreme temperatures or humidity.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Shaking Tank ARGB and PWM Fan Hub, refer to the following common problems and solutions.

  • ARGB Lights Not Working or Flickering:
    • Ensure the SATA power cable is securely connected to both the hub and the PSU.
    • Verify that all ARGB devices are correctly plugged into the 5V 3-pin ARGB ports on the hub.
    • If using motherboard sync, confirm the Motherboard Sync Cable is connected to a 5V 3-pin ARGB header, not a 12V 4-pin RGB header.
    • Check the remote control battery and ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the hub's receiver.
  • Fans Not Spinning or Speed Not Adjusting:
    • Confirm the SATA power cable is providing power to the hub.
    • Ensure all PWM fans are correctly connected to the 4-pin PWM ports on the hub.
    • If using temperature control, verify the 4PIN PWM cable is connected to the motherboard's CPU FAN header and that the primary CPU cooler fan is on the first PWM port.
    • Some motherboards require specific BIOS settings to enable full PWM control. Consult your motherboard manual.
  • Remote Control Not Responding:
    • Replace the remote control battery.
    • Ensure the remote is pointed directly at the hub's IR receiver.
    • If the remote has a pairing function, refer to the remote's instructions (often involves pressing a button multiple times).
