Product Features

  • Discrimination Mode: Allows the detector to differentiate between various metal types by emitting distinct tones and enabling the user to eliminate unwanted metals from detection.
  • Pinpointing Mode: Facilitates the precise location of buried objects, which is crucial for isolating targets that may blend with the surrounding soil.
  • Ground Balancing: This feature enables the detector to disregard natural ground minerals, ensuring that only metallic objects trigger a response.
  • All Metal Mode: Offers enhanced sensitivity for detecting all types of metal objects, making it ideal for general search operations.
  • Adjustable Stem: The detector's length can be adjusted from 500mm to 1200mm (20.0 to 47.2 inches) for comfortable use by various individuals.
  • Waterproof Search Coil: The 11-inch DD oval search coil is waterproof, allowing for effective use in shallow water.
  • Human Mechanics Handle: Designed for an easy, anti-slip grip, enhancing user comfort during extended use.
  • Detector Stand: Prevents damage when the detector is placed on the ground.

Setup

1. Assembly

  1. Connect the three connecting rods together to form the main shaft.
  2. Attach the search coil to the bottom of the lowest connecting rod. Ensure it is securely fastened.
  3. Slide the armrest onto the upper connecting rod.
  4. Mount the host unit (control box) onto the top of the assembled shaft.
  5. Route the search coil cable along the shaft and plug it into the designated port on the host unit.

2. Battery Installation

The TC-600 requires one 9V battery (not included). Open the battery compartment on the host unit, insert the 9V battery, ensuring correct polarity, and close the compartment securely.

3. Height Adjustment

Adjust the length of the detector's stem to a comfortable height, typically where the search coil can be swept parallel to the ground without excessive bending or stretching. The adjustable range is 500mm to 1200mm (20.0 to 47.2 inches).

Operating Modes

1. Power On/Off

Press and hold the power button on the host unit to turn the detector on or off.

2. Ground Balancing

Before beginning your search, perform ground balancing. This calibrates the detector to the specific ground conditions, minimizing false signals from mineralized soil. The ground balancing range is 0-99.9 in all metal mode. Refer to the display for current ground balance settings.

3. All Metal Mode

This mode offers the highest sensitivity and detects all types of metal. It is recommended for initial sweeps to cover a large area and identify potential targets. Gain can be adjusted from 1-100 in this mode to fine-tune sensitivity.

4. Discrimination Mode

Use this mode to filter out unwanted metals, such as iron or foil. The detector will produce different tones for different metal types, allowing you to decide whether to dig or ignore a target. Adjust the discrimination settings on the control panel to suit your preferences.

5. Pinpointing Mode

Once a target is detected, activate the pinpointing mode (often a dedicated button). This mode helps you narrow down the exact location of the buried object, reducing the size of the excavation needed.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: After each use, wipe down the detector with a damp cloth to remove dirt, dust, and moisture. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Search Coil: If the search coil has been used in water, rinse it with fresh water and dry thoroughly.
  • Storage: Store the detector in a dry, cool place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Remove the battery if the detector will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.
  • Battery Care: Always use a fresh 9V battery. Replace the battery when the low battery indicator appears on the display.
  • Cable Inspection: Periodically check all cables and connections for signs of wear or damage.

Troubleshooting

  • No Power: Ensure the 9V battery is correctly installed and fully charged. Check for any loose connections.
  • False Signals/Chatter:
    • Perform ground balancing for the current terrain.
    • Reduce the sensitivity (gain) setting.
    • Move away from sources of electromagnetic interference (e.g., power lines, other electronic devices).
    • Ensure the search coil cable is not loose or damaged.
  • Poor Detection Depth:
    • Increase the sensitivity (gain) setting.
    • Ensure the search coil is swept parallel to the ground.
    • Check battery level.
  • Detector Not Discriminating: Verify that you are in Discrimination Mode and that the discrimination settings are correctly adjusted.
