1. Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Bissell CleanView Swivel Vacuum. This upright vacuum is designed to provide powerful cleaning performance, especially for homes with pets. Its innovative features, such as the Triple Action Brush Roll and Swivel Steering, make cleaning efficient and convenient. This manual will guide you through the assembly, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of your new vacuum cleaner.

2. Safety Instructions

Please read all instructions before using your vacuum cleaner. Always follow basic safety precautions to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or injury.

  • Always connect to a properly grounded outlet.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning or servicing.
  • Do not use with damaged cord or plug.
  • Do not use outdoors or on wet surfaces.
  • Do not allow to be used as a toy. Close attention is necessary when used by or near children.
  • Use only as described in this manual. Use only manufacturer's recommended attachments.
  • Do not pull or carry by cord, use cord as a handle, close a door on cord, or pull cord around sharp edges or corners. Do not run appliance over cord. Keep cord away from heated surfaces.
  • Do not unplug by pulling on cord. To unplug, grasp the plug, not the cord.
  • Do not handle plug or vacuum cleaner with wet hands.
  • Do not put any object into openings. Do not use with any opening blocked; keep free of dust, lint, hair, and anything that may reduce air flow.
  • Keep hair, loose clothing, fingers, and all parts of body away from openings and moving parts.
  • Turn off all controls before unplugging.
  • Use extra care when cleaning on stairs.
  • Do not use to pick up flammable or combustible materials (lighter fluid, gasoline, kerosene, etc.) or use in areas where they may be present.
  • Do not use to pick up toxic material (chlorine bleach, ammonia, drain cleaner, etc.).
  • Do not use vacuum cleaner in an enclosed space filled with vapors given off by oil base paint, paint thinner, some mothproofing substances, flammable dust, or other explosive or toxic vapors.
  • Do not pick up hard or sharp objects such as glass, nails, screws, coins, etc.
  • Do not pick up anything that is burning or smoking, such as cigarettes, matches, or hot ashes.
  • Do not use without filters in place.

3. Setup

Your Bissell CleanView Swivel Vacuum comes with several components that require simple assembly before first use.

3.1 Assembling the Handle

  1. Insert the upper handle into the vacuum body until it clicks securely into place.
  2. Wrap the power cord around the cord wraps on the side of the vacuum for organized storage.

3.2 Attaching the Hose and Tools

  1. Connect the flexible hose to the hose inlet on the back of the vacuum. Ensure it is firmly seated.
  2. Attach the included specialized tools, such as the Crevice Tool, Dusting Brush, and TURBOERASER® Pet Tool, to the on-board storage clips for easy access during cleaning.

4. Operating Instructions

The Bissell CleanView Swivel Vacuum is designed for effective cleaning on various floor types.

4.1 Powering On and Off

  • Plug the power cord into a suitable electrical outlet.
  • Step on the power pedal located at the base of the vacuum to turn it ON or OFF.

4.2 Swivel Steering

The swivel steering feature allows for enhanced maneuverability around furniture and obstacles. Simply twist the handle to steer the vacuum head in the desired direction.

4.3 Triple Action Brush Roll

The Triple Action Brush Roll is engineered to loosen, lift, and remove embedded dirt and pet hair from multiple surfaces, including carpets and hard floors. The brush roll automatically adjusts to different floor types.

4.4 Active Extension Wand

For cleaning hard-to-reach areas, detach the Active Extension Wand. This wand provides up to 12 feet of reach, making it ideal for ceilings, corners, and upholstery.

4.5 Multi-Cyclonic Suction System

The Multi-Cyclonic Suction System provides consistent and powerful suction from start to finish, separating dirt and debris to prevent clogging and maintain performance.

4.6 Using Pet Tools

The TURBOERASER® Pet Tool is specifically designed to effectively clean pet hair from upholstery, stairs, and other surfaces. Attach it to the end of the hose or extension wand.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures your Bissell CleanView Swivel Vacuum continues to perform optimally.

5.1 Emptying the XL Easy Empty™ Dirt Tank

The XL Easy Empty™ Dirt Tank holds up to 1 liter of debris, allowing for longer cleaning sessions. It is recommended to empty the dirt tank after each use or when debris reaches the 'Full' line.

  1. Press the tank release button located on the top of the tank.
  2. Hold the tank over a trash bin and press the bottom release button to open the tank flap and empty debris.
  3. Close the tank flap and reattach the tank to the vacuum until it clicks into place.

5.2 Cleaning Filters

Your vacuum features washable filters. Regular cleaning of the filters is crucial for maintaining suction power.

  1. Remove the dirt tank and locate the foam filter assembly.
  2. Separate the foam filter from the filter frame.
  3. Rinse the foam filter under warm water until the water runs clear.
  4. Allow the filter to air dry completely for at least 24 hours before reinserting. Do not use the vacuum with wet filters.

5.3 Cleaning the Brush Roll

Periodically check the Triple Action Brush Roll for hair, string, or other debris that may wrap around it. Use scissors to carefully cut away any tangled material and remove it.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter any issues with your vacuum, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
