Installation
The Proscenium Vibe Slick 8" Subwoofer is designed for custom DIY installation. Proper mounting and wiring are crucial for performance and safety.
Mounting
Ensure the subwoofer is mounted securely in an appropriate enclosure. The mounting type is Flush Mount. Refer to the specifications section for detailed dimensions.
Wiring Configurations (Single Dual 2 Ohm Subwoofer)
The SLICK8D2-V3 features Dual 2 Ohm voice coils, offering flexibility in wiring to achieve different impedance loads for your amplifier. Always ensure your amplifier is stable at the chosen impedance.

Figure 3: Close-up view of the subwoofer's dual terminals.
1. Parallel Wiring (Resulting in 1 Ohm Load)
To achieve a 1 Ohm load from your Dual 2 Ohm subwoofer, connect the positive terminal of Voice Coil 1 to the positive terminal of Voice Coil 2. Similarly, connect the negative terminal of Voice Coil 1 to the negative terminal of Voice Coil 2. Then, connect your amplifier's positive output to the combined positive terminals and the amplifier's negative output to the combined negative terminals.
Parallel Wiring Demonstration Video
Video 2: This video demonstrates the parallel wiring method for a single dual voice coil subwoofer. While the video uses a DVC 4 Ohm subwoofer to achieve a 2 Ohm load, the wiring technique is identical for the Proscenium Vibe Slick 8" DVC 2 Ohm subwoofer, which will result in a 1 Ohm load.
Important: Ensure your amplifier is 1 Ohm stable before attempting this configuration. Running an amplifier below its stable impedance can cause damage.
2. Series Wiring (Resulting in 4 Ohm Load)
To achieve a 4 Ohm load from your Dual 2 Ohm subwoofer, connect the positive terminal of Voice Coil 1 to your amplifier's positive output. Connect the negative terminal of Voice Coil 1 to the positive terminal of Voice Coil 2. Finally, connect the negative terminal of Voice Coil 2 to your amplifier's negative output.
This configuration is generally safer for amplifiers that are not stable at lower impedances, providing a higher impedance load.
Operation
Once properly installed, operate your subwoofer system responsibly. Start with low volume levels and gradually increase them to avoid damaging the subwoofer or your hearing. Adjust amplifier gain and crossover settings according to your system's requirements and personal preference. Avoid excessive clipping or distortion from your amplifier, as this can lead to subwoofer failure.
Maintenance
The Proscenium Vibe Slick 8" Subwoofer requires minimal maintenance. Keep the subwoofer clean and free from dust and debris. Periodically check all wiring connections to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion. Avoid exposing the subwoofer to direct sunlight or extreme temperatures for prolonged periods.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| No Sound | Loose wiring connections Amplifier not powered on Incorrect gain settings | Check and secure all connections Verify amplifier power and fuses Adjust amplifier gain and head unit volume |
| Distorted Sound | Amplifier clipping Incorrect gain or crossover settings Damaged subwoofer | Reduce amplifier gain Adjust crossover frequencies Inspect subwoofer for physical damage |
| Weak Bass | Incorrect wiring impedance Insufficient amplifier power Improper enclosure design | Verify wiring matches amplifier's stable impedance Consider a more powerful amplifier Ensure enclosure is sealed and correctly sized |
