Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the functionality and longevity of your pocket door frame. Follow these steps carefully. For a visual guide, please refer to the installation video below.
Video 1: JUBEST Pocket Door Frame Kit Installation Guide. This video provides a step-by-step visual demonstration of how to install the pocket door frame kit, including preparing the rough opening, assembling the frame, and mounting the door.
Installation Steps:
- Construct Rough Opening: Prepare the wall framing according to the required dimensions for your door size. Ensure the opening is plumb and level. The minimum height is 84 1/2" (2.14m). The width should be 2X door width plus 1" (25mm).
- Measure for Frame Header End Brackets: Determine the correct height for the header by setting a nail at door height plus 3/4" (19mm) or 1-1/2" (38mm) from the sub-floor.
- Snap a Chalk Line: Mark the floor to indicate the position of the pocket door frame.
- Attach Frame Header to Rough Studs: Secure the header assembly to the rough opening studs. Ensure it is level and properly aligned.
- Attach Split Steel Studs: Insert the galvanized steel studs into the header and secure them. These studs provide rigidity to the pocket wall.
- Insert Ball Bearing Hanger Wheel Assembly, Soft Close Actuators, and Triggers into Track: Carefully slide the hangers, soft-close mechanism, and triggers into the aluminum track within the header. Ensure the flat side of the hangers faces inward.
- Apply Desired Wall Material: Once the frame is securely installed, apply drywall or other wall material. Use self-tapping drywall screws.
- Mount Door Plates and Mount Door: Attach the door plates to the top edge of your door. Lift the door and engage the hangers with the track.
- Install Finished Jambs, Split Headers, and Casing: Install the finished jambs and casing around the door opening. Use self-tapping finish trim screws. Ensure a 3/16" (5mm) gap between the door and the jamb.
- Fasten Door Guides: Install the floor guides to keep the bottom of the door aligned. Ensure a 3/16" (5mm) gap between the door and the guides.

Operating Instructions
Your JUBEST Pocket Door Frame Kit features a two-way soft-close mechanism for smooth and quiet operation.

Figure 4: Detailed view of the double-sided soft-close mechanism and the three-wheel ball bearing hanger, which ensure smooth and quiet door movement.
- Soft-Close Function: As the door approaches the fully open or fully closed position, the soft-close mechanism will engage, gently slowing the door's movement and pulling it into its final position. This prevents slamming and reduces wear.
- Opening and Closing: To open or close the door, apply gentle pressure. The soft-close mechanism will assist in the final stages of movement. Avoid forcing the door.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the continued smooth operation of your pocket door.
- Cleaning: Keep the door track free of dust and debris. Use a soft cloth to wipe down the visible parts of the track and door.
- Lubrication: Periodically apply a silicone-based lubricant to the door rollers and track to maintain smooth gliding. Avoid oil-based lubricants as they can attract dust.
- Inspection: Annually inspect the hangers, soft-close mechanism, and floor guides for any signs of wear or damage. Tighten any loose screws.
- Replacing Parts: If any parts need replacement after drywall installation, they can be replaced without removing the drywall. Refer to the installation video for guidance on accessing internal components.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your pocket door, refer to the following common problems and solutions:
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Door does not slide smoothly. | Dust or debris in track; dry rollers; misaligned track. | Clean the track thoroughly. Lubricate rollers with silicone spray. Check track alignment and adjust if necessary. |
| Soft-close mechanism not engaging or working effectively. | Mechanism misaligned or damaged; door weight exceeds capacity. | Inspect the soft-close mechanism for proper placement and function. Ensure door weight is within the 120 lbs limit. Contact support if mechanism is damaged. |
| Door rubs against the frame or floor. | Improper installation of frame or door; loose floor guides. | Verify the frame is plumb and square. Adjust door height using hanger bolts. Ensure floor guides are securely fastened and correctly positioned. |
| Door is difficult for small children to close. | Soft-close mechanism resistance. | The soft-close mechanism is designed to prevent slamming and requires a certain amount of force to engage. This is a normal characteristic of the feature. |
