1. Important Safety Information

Read all instructions and warnings in this manual before using the Maxi-Cosi Mico Luxe+ Infant Car Seat. Failure to follow these instructions can result in serious injury or death to your child. Keep this manual for future reference.

• This car seat is designed for infants weighing 4-30 lbs (1.8-13.6 kg) and up to 32 inches (81 cm) in height.
• Always use the car seat in a rear-facing position.
• Never place an infant car seat in the front passenger seat with an active airbag.
• Ensure the harness is snug against your child's body and the chest clip is at armpit level.
• Do not use accessories or parts not approved by Maxi-Cosi.

3. Installation

3.1 Base Installation (LATCH System)

1. Place the car seat base on the vehicle seat.
2. Locate the vehicle's lower anchor bars.
3. Extend the MaxiLock LATCH connectors from the car seat base.
4. Attach the LATCH connectors to the vehicle's lower anchor bars until you hear a click.
5. Press down firmly on the base while pulling the LATCH strap to tighten the connection. The self-tightening system will secure the base.
6. Engage the load leg by extending it to the vehicle floor until it is firmly in place.
7. Check for a secure installation: The base should not move more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.

3.2 Vehicle Belt Installation (Without Base)

For installation without the base (often referred to as 'Taxi-mode'), use the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt system.

1. Place the infant car seat rear-facing on the vehicle seat.
2. Route the vehicle's lap and shoulder belt through the clearly marked belt guides on the car seat.
3. Buckle the vehicle belt.
4. Remove all slack from the lap and shoulder belt. Lock the vehicle's seat belt retractor if applicable, or use a locking clip if provided with the car seat.
5. Check for a secure installation: The car seat should not move more than one inch side-to-side or front-to-back at the belt path.

4. Child Placement and Harnessing

4.1 Infant Insert Use

The Mico Luxe+ includes removable infant head and lumbar inserts for smaller babies, providing additional support and comfort.

• Use the infant inserts for newborns and smaller infants to ensure proper fit and positioning.
• Remove the inserts when your child outgrows them or when they interfere with a snug harness fit.

4.2 Harness Adjustment

1. Place your child in the car seat.
2. Pull the harness straps over your child's shoulders and buckle them into the crotch buckle.
3. Connect the chest clip at armpit level.
4. Tighten the harness straps using the adjustment strap until they are snug against your child's body. You should not be able to pinch any excess webbing at the shoulder.
5. Ensure the shoulder straps are at or below your child's shoulders when rear-facing.

5. Car Seat Use and Portability

5.1 Carrying the Car Seat

The Mico Luxe+ features an ergonomically designed handle for comfortable carrying.

• Always ensure your child is properly harnessed before carrying the car seat.
• Use the handle in the upright position for carrying.

5.2 Stroller Compatibility

The Mico Luxe+ infant car seat is designed to be compatible with various strollers. Refer to your stroller's instruction manual or the Maxi-Cosi website for a list of compatible strollers and necessary adapters.

6. Care and Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning Instructions

The PureCosi fabrics are designed for easy cleaning.

• Fabric Covers: The removable car seat cushions are machine-washable and dryer-safe. Use cold water on a delicate cycle and tumble dry on low heat. Do not use bleach.
• Harness Straps: Wipe harness straps with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not machine wash or immerse in water, as this may weaken the webbing.
• Plastic and Metal Parts: Wipe with a damp cloth and mild soap. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.

6.2 Inspection

Regularly inspect the car seat for any signs of damage or wear.

• Check for frayed straps, cracked plastic, or loose parts.
• Ensure all buckles and adjusters function correctly.
• If any damage is found, discontinue use and contact customer support.

7. Troubleshooting

• Harness Difficult to Tighten: Ensure the harness straps are not twisted and are routed correctly through the back of the seat. Check that no fabric is obstructing the harness path.
• Car Seat Cover Not Staying in Place: Verify that all plastic pieces and attachments are correctly re-secured after washing. Ensure the cover is fully seated and snapped into all designated points on the car seat shell.
• Sunshade Issues: If the sunshade does not stay attached, ensure it is properly inserted into its designated slots on the car seat handle or shell. Check for any obstructions or damage to the attachment points.
• Loose Installation: Re-read the installation instructions carefully. Ensure the LATCH connectors or vehicle belt are fully tightened and the load leg is properly extended. The car seat should not move more than one inch at the belt path.
