Installation Instructions

These LED tube lights support two primary installation methods: Plug & Play (Ballast Compatible) and Ballast Bypass (Direct Wire). Always ensure power is OFF before beginning installation.

Method 1: Plug & Play (Ballast Compatible)

This method uses your existing electronic ballast. No rewiring of the fixture is required.

  1. Turn off power: Disconnect power to the fixture at the circuit breaker.
  2. Remove existing fluorescent tubes: Carefully remove the old fluorescent tubes from the fixture.
  3. Check ballast compatibility: Refer to the Ballast Compatibility List below to ensure your existing ballast is compatible.
  4. Install LED tube lights: Insert the GoToLed Light T8 LED tube lights into the existing lamp holders (tombstones). Ensure they are securely seated.
  5. Restore power: Turn power back on at the circuit breaker.

Note: No need to change shunted lamp holders for this method.

Method 2: Ballast Bypass (Direct Wire)

This method bypasses the existing ballast, wiring the LED tube lights directly to the main power supply. This can be done with single-end or double-end connections.

  1. Turn off power: Disconnect power to the fixture at the circuit breaker.
  2. Remove existing fluorescent tubes and ballast: Carefully remove the old fluorescent tubes and then remove the existing ballast from the fixture.
  3. Wire the fixture:
    • Single-End Connection: Wire the live (L) and neutral (N) wires to one end of the fixture's lamp holders. The other end of the fixture will not be wired. You will need non-shunted lamp holders for this configuration.
    • Double-End Connection: Wire the live (L) wire to one end of the fixture's lamp holders and the neutral (N) wire to the other end. This can work with existing shunted lamp holders.

Refer to the wiring diagrams below for visual guidance.

  4. Install LED tube lights: Insert the GoToLed Light T8 LED tube lights into the lamp holders. Ensure they are securely seated.
  5. Restore power: Turn power back on at the circuit breaker.

Operating Instructions

Your GoToLed Light T8 LED Tube Light features adjustable settings for both color temperature and wattage.

Adjusting Color Temperature (CCT)

Each tube light has a small switch located on its body to select the desired color temperature. The available options are:

  • 3000K: Soft White
  • 4000K: Cool White
  • 5000K: Bright White
  • 6500K: Daylight

Adjust the switch to your preferred setting before or after installation. The change will take effect immediately upon power cycling the light if adjusted while powered on, or upon initial power-up if adjusted before installation.

Adjusting Wattage and Brightness

A separate switch on the tube light allows you to select the wattage, which directly impacts the brightness. The available settings are:

  • 12W: 1560 Lumens
  • 15W: 1950 Lumens
  • 18W: 2340 Lumens
  • 22W: 2860 Lumens (Brightest setting)

Select the desired wattage based on your lighting needs and room size. Adjust the switch to your preferred setting before or after installation. The change will take effect immediately upon power cycling the light if adjusted while powered on, or upon initial power-up if adjusted before installation.

Maintenance

The GoToLed Light T8 LED Tube Light requires minimal maintenance due to its long lifespan and durable construction.

  • Cleaning: Ensure power is off before cleaning. Use a soft, dry, or slightly damp cloth to wipe the surface of the tube. Do not use harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the tubes and connections for any signs of damage or loose wiring. If any issues are found, disconnect power and consult a qualified electrician.
  • Replacement: With a lifespan of over 50,000 hours, frequent replacement is not anticipated. If a tube needs replacement, ensure it is replaced with a compatible GoToLed Light T8 LED Tube Light.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your LED tube light, refer to the following common troubleshooting steps:

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Light does not turn on.No power to the fixture, incorrect wiring, incompatible ballast (for Plug & Play), faulty tube.
  • Check circuit breaker.
  • Verify wiring connections (refer to installation section).
  • If using Plug & Play, check ballast compatibility. Consider Ballast Bypass if ballast is suspected faulty.
  • Test with another known working tube if available.
Light flickers.Incompatible ballast, loose connection, voltage fluctuations.
  • Ensure ballast is compatible (for Plug & Play).
  • Check all connections for tightness.
  • If flickering persists, consider Ballast Bypass wiring.
Incorrect color temperature or brightness.Switch set incorrectly.
  • Adjust the CCT or wattage switch on the tube to the desired setting.
  • Power cycle the light after adjustment.
Tube makes a popping sound and stops working.Incorrect wiring (e.g., wiring both ends in a single-end bypass setup), voltage surge, internal component failure.
  • Immediately disconnect power.
  • Review wiring carefully, especially for Ballast Bypass installations. Ensure only one end is wired for single-end bypass.
  • Contact customer support if the issue persists after verifying wiring.
