3. Setup Guide

3.1 Initial Connection

  1. Connect the Adapter: Plug the included USB cable (either Type-A to USB-C or Type-C to USB-C, depending on your car's port) into a USB port in your car. Insert the USB-C end into the Play2Video Pro adapter.
  2. Power On: The device will power on automatically once connected to the car's USB port.
  3. Connect to Phone (for Wireless CarPlay/Android Auto):
    • For iPhone: Turn on Wi-Fi and Bluetooth on your iPhone. Pair with the Bluetooth name "Play2Video-xxxx" (where xxxx is a unique identifier). On your iPhone, a prompt will appear; touch "Use CarPlay" to establish the wireless CarPlay connection.
    • For Android: Ensure you have the latest Android Auto app installed on your phone. Pair with the Bluetooth name "Play2Video-xxxx". The device will automatically connect to wireless Android Auto.
  4. Connect to Internet (for Streaming Apps): To use built-in apps like YouTube and Netflix, the Play2Video Pro requires an internet connection. This can be provided by tethering from your smartphone's hotspot or by connecting to your car's built-in Wi-Fi (if available).

3.2 Compatibility

The Ottocast Play2Video Pro is compatible with most cars that have factory-wired CarPlay, manufactured between 2016 and 2024. For smartphone compatibility, it requires iPhone iOS 10 or above, and Android phones with Android 11 or above. It works with a wide range of car brands including, but not limited to, Ford, Chevrolet, Dodge, Toyota, Honda, Jeep, Audi, Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, Volvo, Volkswagen, Lexus, Hyundai, Peugeot, Mazda, and Land Rover.

Important Note: Play2Video Pro is not available for all car models. Some car models may not work even if they are listed in the compatibility chart. Please confirm that your vehicle is a "2016 or later genuine model with wired CarPlay functionality" before purchase. It is not compatible with vehicles that are not genuine models with wired CarPlay functionality from 2016 or later. It cannot be paired with a Bluetooth remote control, so it is not recommended for use in non-touchscreen vehicle types.
