4. Setup

4.1 Initial Power On

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the back of the pedometer.
  2. If the battery is not pre-installed, insert the included button cell battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  3. The device should power on automatically and display a default reading (e.g., "0.000").

4.2 Wearing the Pedometer

For accurate step counting, the pedometer should be securely attached to your body. The integrated clip allows for versatile placement.

  • On your pocket or shirt collar: Clip the pedometer firmly to the edge of your pocket or collar.
  • On your waist belt: Attach the pedometer to your belt or waistband.
  • In your pocket or bag: While less accurate than being clipped, it can still track steps when placed in a pocket or bag.

5. Operating Instructions

The pedometer features three buttons: MODE, SET, and RESET.

5.1 Switching Modes

Press the MODE button repeatedly to cycle through the different tracking displays:

  • STEP: Displays the total number of steps taken.
  • DIST: Displays the distance traveled (in KM or Miles).
  • KCAL: Displays the estimated calories burned.
  • TIME: Displays the exercise duration.

5.2 Resetting Data

To clear your current activity data and start a new tracking session:

  1. Ensure the pedometer is displaying the desired mode (e.g., STEP).
  2. Press and hold the RESET button for 2 to 5 seconds.
  3. The display will reset to zero, indicating that the data has been cleared.

5.3 Setting Units (Metric/Imperial)

The pedometer allows you to select between metric (kilometers, kilograms) and imperial (miles, pounds) units for distance and weight calculations.

  1. While in DIST mode, press and hold the SET button.
  2. The unit (KM or MILE) will flash. Press MODE to toggle between KM and MILE.
  3. Press SET again to confirm your selection.
  4. Repeat a similar process for weight settings if available, typically by holding SET in KCAL mode.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the pedometer with a soft, dry cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the device.
  • Avoid submerging the pedometer in water.

6.2 Battery Replacement

When the display becomes dim or unresponsive, it is time to replace the battery.

  1. Open the battery compartment cover on the back of the device.
  2. Carefully remove the old button cell battery.
  3. Insert a new button cell battery, ensuring the positive (+) side faces up.
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

6.3 Storage

  • Store the pedometer in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • If storing for an extended period, it is recommended to remove the battery to prevent leakage.

7. Troubleshooting

  • Pedometer not turning on: Check if the battery is inserted correctly with the correct polarity. Replace the battery if necessary.
  • Inaccurate step count: Ensure the pedometer is securely clipped to your body (e.g., waist, pocket) and not swinging freely. Movement in a bag or loose clothing may affect accuracy.
  • Display is dim or blank: The battery may be low or depleted. Replace the battery.
  • Cannot reset data: Ensure you are holding the RESET button for the specified duration (2-5 seconds).
