Setup and Installation

Follow these steps carefully to install your Enbrighten Z-Wave Plus Smart Switch. If you are not comfortable with electrical wiring, please consult a qualified electrician.

1. Prepare for Installation

  • Turn OFF power to the switch box at the circuit breaker or fuse box.
  • Remove the existing wallplate and switch.
  • Carefully label each wire connected to the old switch (Line/Hot, Load, Neutral, Ground, Traveler if applicable).
  • Confirm the presence of a neutral wire (usually white) in the switch box. This switch requires a neutral wire.

2. Wiring the Smart Switch

The Enbrighten Smart Switch features SimpleWire technology for easier wiring. It has auto-detect line/load terminals.

Image Description: This diagram illustrates the QuickFit and SimpleWire features of the Enbrighten Smart Switch. The QuickFit section highlights the reduced housing and absence of break-off tabs for easier installation in crowded switch boxes. The SimpleWire section shows the wiring terminals: Ground (green), Load or Line (black), Traveler (optional for 3-way, red), and Neutral (white). It emphasizes faster installation with auto-detect line/load and dual, offset ground ports.

  • Connect the bare copper or green wire from the wall box to the GROUND terminal on the switch.
  • Connect the white wire from the wall box (NEUTRAL) to the NEUTRAL terminal on the switch.
  • Connect the black wire from the wall box (LINE/HOT) to one of the LOAD/LINE terminals on the switch.
  • Connect the black wire leading to the light fixture (LOAD) to the other LOAD/LINE terminal on the switch.
  • For 3-Way or 4-Way Installations: If installing in a multi-switch setup, connect the traveler wire (usually red) from the wall box to the TRAVELER terminal on the smart switch. You will also need an Enbrighten add-on switch (models 12728 or 46200) for the other location(s). Refer to the add-on switch manual for its specific wiring.
  • Ensure all wire connections are secure. The "poke-in" connections have screw tightening for added security.

3. Mounting and Finishing

  • Carefully push the wired switch into the wall box.
  • Secure the switch to the wall box using the provided screws.
  • Attach the new wallplate (not included).
  • Restore power to the circuit at the circuit breaker.
