4. Setup Instructions

Follow these steps to set up your refrigerant charging scale for first use:

  1. Unpack the Scale: Carefully remove the scale platform, handheld display, and carrying case from the packaging.
  2. Install Battery: Locate the battery compartment on the back of the handheld display. Open the cover and insert one 9V battery, ensuring correct polarity. Close the battery compartment.
  3. Connect Display: Ensure the coiled cable from the scale platform is securely connected to the handheld display unit.
  4. Placement: Place the scale platform on a flat, stable, and level surface. Avoid placing it near strong electromagnetic fields or vibrating equipment.

5. Operating Instructions

This section details the basic operation of your digital refrigerant scale.

5.1 Powering On/Off

  • Press the ON/OFF button to turn the scale on. The display will show '88888' then '0.00'.
  • To turn off, press and hold the ON/OFF button for a few seconds until the display turns off.

5.2 Zeroing the Scale (Tare Function)

  • After placing an empty refrigerant tank or container on the platform, press the Z/T button. The display will reset to '0.00', effectively taring the weight of the container.

5.3 Unit Switching

  • Press the UNIT button to cycle through the available measurement units: kgs, Oz, Lbs, Lbs+Oz, kg+g.

5.4 Backlight Function

  • Press the LAMP button to turn the display backlight on or off. The backlight will automatically turn off after 3 minutes of non-use to save power.

5.5 Refrigerant Charging/Recovery Process

  1. Place the refrigerant tank on the center of the scale platform.
  2. Press the Z/T button to zero out the weight of the tank.
  3. Connect your charging/recovery hoses to the tank and HVAC system as per standard HVAC procedures.
  4. Begin charging or recovering refrigerant. Monitor the display to accurately track the amount of refrigerant added or removed.
  5. Once the desired weight is reached, close the valves and disconnect the hoses.

5.6 Auto-Shut Off Feature

To conserve battery life, the scale will automatically shut off after 10 minutes of continuous non-use. To reactivate, simply press the ON/OFF button.

  • Cleaning: Wipe the scale platform and display with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse the unit in water.
