1. Introduction

4. Setup and Installation

This section outlines the general steps for installing components into your JOYJOM MATX Case. Due to the compact nature of this case, careful planning and attention to component dimensions are recommended.

4.1. Preparing the Case

1. Remove Side Panels: Unscrew the side panel screws and gently push the side panel to uninstall it. Repeat for the other side if necessary.
2. Remove Brackets: Remove any pre-installed brackets by bending them and then screwing them into the corresponding position with screws, as needed for your build.

4.3. Detailed Installation Steps

1. Motherboard Installation:
   • Install the CPU and CPU cooler onto the motherboard before placing it into the case, if possible, to ease access.
   • Mount the motherboard (Micro ATX or ITX) onto the standoffs. Note that for Micro ATX boards, some mounting points may not align perfectly, which is a known characteristic of this compact case. Ensure the board is securely fastened where possible.
   • Connect the front panel headers (USB 3.0, USB 2.0, Audio, Mic, Power, Reset) to the motherboard. Due to space constraints, routing these cables under the motherboard or using angled connectors may be necessary.
2. Power Supply Unit (PSU) Installation:
   • Install a standard ATX power supply in the designated rear-mount area.
   • Due to the top-mount design without a dedicated vent, it is recommended to install the PSU with its fan facing inwards towards the case interior to draw air from within the case.
3. Graphics Card Installation:
   • Install your graphics card into the appropriate PCIe slot. Ensure its length does not exceed 250mm (or 225mm if a front fan is installed).
   • Align the graphics card carefully with the expansion slots, as some users have reported minor alignment challenges.
4. Storage Drive Installation:
   • Install 3.5" HDDs and 2.5" SSDs in the designated bays. Refer to Figure 5 and 6 for locations.
   • If installing drives at the bottom, ensure sufficient clearance for SATA power and data cables. Angled SATA cables may be beneficial.
5. Fan Installation:
   • Install up to two 120mm fans on the front panel and one 80mm fan on the rear panel for optimal airflow.
   • When installing front fans, be mindful of potential interference with the motherboard's 24-pin power connector or GPU length. Slim 120mm fans may be required in some configurations.
6. Cable Management:
   • This case offers limited dedicated cable management features. Utilize zip ties and strategic routing to organize cables and maintain good airflow.

5. Operating the PC Case

Once all components are installed and connected, the PC case facilitates the operation of your computer system.

5.1. Front Panel Functions

• Power Button: Press to turn the computer on or off.
• Reset Button: Press to restart the computer.
• USB 3.0 Port: For high-speed data transfer with compatible devices.
• USB 2.0 Port: For standard data transfer with compatible devices.
• Audio Jack: For connecting headphones or speakers.
• Microphone Jack: For connecting a microphone.

6. Maintenance

Regular maintenance helps ensure optimal performance and longevity of your PC components.

• Dust Cleaning: Periodically clean dust from the interior of the case, especially from fan filters and component heatsinks, using compressed air or a soft brush.
• Exterior Cleaning: Wipe the exterior surfaces with a soft, damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
• Airflow Check: Ensure that all fans are operating correctly and that ventilation openings are not obstructed to maintain proper airflow and cooling.

7. Troubleshooting

7.1. Component Fit Issues

• Motherboard Alignment: For Micro ATX motherboards, some mounting points may not align perfectly. Secure the board using available standoffs. Avoid excessive force when connecting cables to areas without direct support.
• GPU Length: If your graphics card is too long, ensure no front fans are installed, or consider using a shorter GPU. The maximum length is 250mm without front fans, and 225mm with a 120x120x25mm front fan.
• Front Fan Interference: If front fans interfere with the motherboard's 24-pin power connector or other components, consider using slim 120mm fans (15mm thickness) or adjusting fan placement.
• Bottom HDD Clearance: If a 3.5" HDD at the bottom lacks clearance for SATA power/data cables, use angled connectors or consider adding small spacers/standoffs to slightly raise the drive.

7.2. Noise Amplification

• Vibration: If the case amplifies noise from components like hard drives, ensure all components are securely mounted. Adding rubber grommets or vibration-dampening material between drives and mounting points can help reduce resonance.

7.3. Poor Airflow/Overheating

• Fan Configuration: Ensure front fans are configured for intake and the rear fan for exhaust to create positive airflow.
• Cable Management: Poor cable management can obstruct airflow. Reroute cables to minimize blockages.
• PSU Orientation: The top-mounted PSU should ideally have its fan facing inwards to draw air from the case, aiding in heat exhaust.
