5. Installation & Setup

5.1 Mounting the Bracket on Your Bike

The Sportneer folding lock comes with a versatile mounting bracket for convenient attachment to your bicycle frame. The bracket is designed to fit bike posts with a diameter of under 57 mm. Note: It is not suitable for flat tubes.

1. Identify a suitable location on your bike frame, typically where a water bottle cage would be mounted, or any cylindrical tube with a diameter under 57mm.
2. Use the provided straps or screws to securely attach the mounting bracket to the bike frame. Ensure the bracket is firmly in place and does not wobble.
3. Once the bracket is installed, slide the folded bike lock into the bracket until it clicks securely into place.
4. To remove the lock from the bracket, press the release button on the bracket and slide the lock out.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Locking Your Bike

1. Remove the lock from its mounting bracket.
2. Insert one of the provided keys into the lock cylinder and turn it to unlock the folding mechanism.
3. Unfold the lock to its full length (up to 95 cm).
4. Wrap the lock around your bicycle frame and a secure, immovable object (e.g., a bike rack, lamppost). Ensure the lock passes through a non-removable part of your bike, such as the frame or a wheel that is secured to the frame.
5. Align the two ends of the lock and push them together until you hear a click, indicating it is securely locked.
6. Remove the key and store it in a safe place. Remember to keep the dust cover closed over the keyhole to protect the lock core.

6.2 Unlocking Your Bike

1. Insert the key into the lock cylinder.
2. Turn the key to disengage the locking mechanism.
3. Separate the two ends of the lock and remove it from your bike and the secured object.
4. Fold the lock back into its compact form and re-attach it to the mounting bracket on your bike for transport.

7. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and smooth operation of your Sportneer bike lock, follow these maintenance guidelines:

• Lubrication: If the locking mechanism feels stiff or difficult to operate, apply a small amount of graphite-based lubricant or a specialized lock lubricant into the keyhole. Avoid using oil-based lubricants as they can attract dirt and dust.
• Dust Cover: Always ensure the lock core dust cover is closed when the key is removed. This prevents dust, dirt, and moisture from entering the lock cylinder, which can cause corrosion or jamming.
• Cleaning: Wipe down the exterior of the lock periodically with a damp cloth to remove dirt and grime. Avoid harsh chemicals that could damage the anti-scratch coating.
• Storage: When not in use for extended periods, store the lock in a dry environment to prevent rust and corrosion.

8. Troubleshooting

8.1 Lock Mechanism is Stiff

If the lock mechanism is stiff or difficult to turn, it may be due to accumulated dust or lack of lubrication.

• Solution: Apply a small amount of graphite-based lubricant or a specialized lock lubricant directly into the keyhole. Insert the key and turn it several times to distribute the lubricant. Repeat if necessary.

8.2 Keys are Lost

The Sportneer lock comes with three keys to mitigate the risk of loss. In case all keys are lost:
