Setup and Connection
Proper connection of the ESC to your RC system is crucial for safe and reliable operation. Follow the diagram and instructions below carefully.

Image: Connection diagram illustrating how to connect the ESC to the motor, battery, and receiver. The diagram shows the XT60 connector for the battery, 3.5mm gold connectors for the motor, and the throttle signal wire (and optional reverse signal wire) to the receiver.
Connection Steps:
- Motor Connection: Connect the three 3.5mm gold female connectors from the ESC to the three male connectors of your brushless motor. The order of connection may affect motor rotation direction; this can be adjusted later if needed.
- Battery Connection: Connect your LiPo battery (2-4S) to the XT60 male connector on the ESC. Ensure correct polarity.
- Receiver Connection: Plug the throttle signal wire (typically a three-wire servo lead: signal, positive, negative) from the ESC into the throttle channel (usually channel 3) of your RC receiver.
- Optional SMR Function: If using the SMR (Switch Motor Rotation) function, plug the dedicated reverse signal wire (yellow wire, if present) into any vacant channel on your receiver. This allows for in-flight motor rotation control.

Operating Instructions
Initial ESC Calibration (Throttle Range)
Before first use, or if you change your transmitter, it is recommended to calibrate the ESC's throttle range to match your transmitter's output:
- Turn on your transmitter and set the throttle stick to its maximum position (full throttle).
- Connect the flight battery to the ESC. The ESC will emit a series of beeps.
- When you hear the confirmation tone (usually a long beep), immediately move the throttle stick to its minimum position (throttle off).
- The ESC will emit another series of beeps confirming the low throttle position. Calibration is complete.
- Disconnect the battery. The ESC is now ready for use.
Programmable Parameters
The TOYTENSI ESC offers several programmable parameters to fine-tune its performance. These settings can be adjusted using an optional LCD Program Box or through your transmitter's stick movements (refer to the program box manual or advanced ESC programming guides for detailed transmitter programming steps).

Maintenance
To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your TOYTENSI ESC, follow these maintenance guidelines:
- Cleaning: Keep the ESC clean and free from dust, dirt, and moisture. Use a soft, dry brush or compressed air to remove debris. Avoid using liquids or solvents.
- Inspection: Regularly inspect all wires and connectors for signs of wear, fraying, or damage. Replace any damaged components immediately.
- Storage: Store the ESC in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. Disconnect from all power sources before storage.
- Heat Management: Ensure adequate airflow around the ESC during operation to prevent overheating. Avoid enclosing the ESC in tight spaces without ventilation.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Motor does not start or stutters. | Incorrect motor/ESC connection; throttle not calibrated; low battery voltage; motor timing issue. | Check motor wire connections. Perform throttle calibration. Check battery charge. Adjust motor timing settings. |
| ESC overheats. | Insufficient airflow; motor/propeller too large; excessive load; incorrect motor timing. | Ensure proper ventilation. Use a smaller propeller or motor. Reduce load. Adjust motor timing. |
| Motor runs in the wrong direction. | Incorrect motor wire connection. | Swap any two of the three motor wires between the ESC and motor. Alternatively, use the programmable Motor Rotation setting. |
| No power to receiver/servos. | BEC failure; incorrect receiver connection. | Check BEC output voltage. Ensure ESC signal wire is correctly plugged into the receiver. |
| Lost signal protection activates. | Loss of signal from transmitter. | Check transmitter battery and range. Ensure receiver is properly bound and functioning. |
