5. Setup and Installation

5.1 Sensor Battery Installation

Each PIR motion sensor requires 3 AAA batteries (not included). Follow these steps:

  1. Slide the sensor unit to the right to unlock it from its backplate.
  2. Open the battery cover.
  3. Insert 3 AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery cover and slide the sensor back to the left to secure it.

5.2 Receiver Power

Plug the receiver unit into a standard 110V AC wall outlet. The receiver can also be powered via a USB cable (not included).

5.3 Mounting the Sensors

Sensors can be mounted on walls, fence posts, trees, or other surfaces using the provided screw set. Consider the following for optimal placement:

  • Height: Mount the sensor at a height of at least 3 feet (approximately 1 meter) to ensure proper detection and avoid false triggers from small animals.
  • Line of Sight: Ensure a clear line of sight between the sensor and the area to be monitored. Avoid obstructions that could block the infrared beam.
  • Angle: Position the sensor to cover the desired detection area. The sensor has a 110°-120° detection angle.
  • Weather Protection: While the sensors are IP65 waterproof, positioning them under an overhang or in a sheltered location can extend their lifespan.

6. Operating Instructions

6.1 Powering On/Off the Sensor

Locate the ON/OFF switch on the side of the PIR sensor. Toggle it to turn the sensor on or off. An LED indicator may light up briefly upon activation.

6.2 Adjusting Receiver Settings

The receiver unit has buttons for adjusting its settings:

  • Volume Control: Use the volume buttons (Volume + / Volume -) on the side of the receiver to cycle through 3 volume levels (High, Middle, Low) or mute (LED Flash Only mode).
  • Ringtone Selection: Press the 'Music selection' button to cycle through the 38 available ringtones. Press the 'Music Switch' button to confirm your selection.
  • Alert Modes: The receiver supports two alert modes: sound with LED flash, or LED flash only (silent mode). This can typically be adjusted via the volume control or a dedicated mode button if present.

6.3 Pairing Sensors with Receiver (If necessary)

The units are typically pre-paired from the factory. If re-pairing is needed or you add new sensors:

  1. Plug in the receiver.
  2. Press and hold the 'Music selection' button on the receiver for a few seconds until an indicator light flashes or a specific sound is heard, indicating pairing mode.
  3. Wave your hand in front of the sensor you wish to pair. The sensor will send a signal.
  4. The receiver should confirm successful pairing with a chime or flash.

7. Maintenance

7.1 Battery Replacement

When the sensor's detection range decreases or it stops transmitting signals, it may be time to replace the AAA batteries. Follow the steps in Section 5.1.

7.2 Cleaning

Wipe the sensor and receiver units with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners or immerse units in water.

7.3 Environmental Considerations

The sensors are designed to operate in a wide temperature range (4°F to 140°F). However, extreme weather conditions or direct sunlight on the sensor lens can affect performance. Ensure the sensor lens is clear of debris, snow, or ice.

8. Troubleshooting

  • No Detection:
    • Check sensor battery levels.
    • Ensure sensor is powered on.
    • Verify line of sight between sensor and detection area.
    • Confirm sensor and receiver are paired.
    • Reduce distance between sensor and receiver.
  • False Alarms:
    • Adjust sensor angle to avoid detecting small animals or moving foliage.
    • Ensure sensor is not directly facing heat sources or reflective surfaces.
    • Check for strong electromagnetic interference.
  • Receiver Not Sounding:
    • Check if the receiver is plugged in and powered on.
    • Ensure volume is not set to mute or the lowest setting.
    • Verify that the receiver is paired with the sensor.
  • Short Wireless Range:
    • Obstructions like thick walls, metal structures, or dense vegetation can reduce range. Try repositioning units.
    • Low sensor battery can affect transmission strength.
