2. Safety Information

Please read all safety instructions carefully before installation and operation to prevent injury or property damage. Keep this manual for future reference.

  • Electrical Safety: Ensure the unit is connected to a properly grounded 120-volt electrical outlet. Do not use extension cords.
  • Water Filling: Before initial use, or after the unit has been drained, you must fully fill the water heater tank with water before turning on the power. Failure to do so can cause damage to the heating element (dry burn).
  • Temperature and Pressure Relief (T&P) Valve: The included T&P relief valve is a critical safety component. It must be installed correctly and maintained to prevent excessive pressure buildup. Do not block or tamper with the T&P valve.
  • Drainage: If the unit will not be used for an extended period, drain the water from the tank to prevent freezing and potential damage.
  • Installation: Installation should be performed by a qualified professional if you are unsure about plumbing or electrical connections.
  • Maintenance: Regular maintenance, including draining and flushing the tank, is recommended to prolong the unit's operational life and ensure safe operation.

4. Operating Instructions

Once installed and filled, operating your FVSTR Electric Hot Water Heater is straightforward.

Initial Startup:

  • Ensure the tank is fully filled with water before plugging in the unit.
  • Upon plugging in, the unit will begin heating the water. The initial heating cycle may take several hours to reach the desired temperature, especially during the first use.

Adjusting Temperature:

The unit is equipped with an adjustable thermostat. Use the control knob on the front panel to set your desired water temperature. The digital display will show the current temperature.

  • Rotate the knob to increase or decrease the temperature setting.
  • The temperature range is typically between 80°F and 167°F (approximately 27°C to 75°C).

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance ensures the longevity and efficient operation of your water heater.

  • Draining the Tank: The unit features a built-in drain valve for easy water drainage. This is important if the unit will be stored in an unheated area during freezing temperatures or if it will not be used for a long period.
    1. Disconnect the power supply to the unit.
    2. Turn off the cold water supply to the unit.
    3. Open a hot water faucet in your sink to relieve pressure and allow air into the system.
    4. Open the drain valve on the water heater and allow all water to drain out.
    5. Once drained, close the drain valve and the hot water faucet.
  • T&P Valve Inspection: Periodically inspect the Temperature and Pressure Relief (T&P) valve to ensure it is not corroded or blocked. Test the valve annually by lifting the lever to ensure water flows freely.
  • Anode Rod Inspection: While not easily accessible for routine user inspection, the anode magnesium rod helps reduce corrosion. If you notice a significant decrease in hot water output or unusual odors, professional inspection of the anode rod may be necessary.
  • Cleaning: Keep the exterior of the unit clean with a damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
