Setup Instructions

Setting Your Combination Lock

Your luggage strap comes with a preset combination of 0-0-0. Follow these steps to set your personal combination:

  1. Ensure the lock is set to the default combination 0-0-0 and open the lock.
  2. Locate the reset button (usually a small button or lever on the side or bottom of the lock). Use a pen or a pointed object to press and hold this button.
  3. While holding the reset button, set your desired 3-digit combination by turning the dials. Choose a memorable number.
  4. Release the reset button. Your new combination is now set.
  5. Test your new combination by scrambling the dials and then entering your new code to open the lock.

Important: Remember your combination. There is no master key or override if you forget it.

Attaching the Strap to Your Luggage

The strap is designed for cross-application on suitcases ranging from 20 to 32 inches.

  1. Securing the Long Strap: Loop the longer strap through the luggage handle or around the suitcase horizontally.
  2. Lock Fixing: Connect the two ends of the long strap's lock together.
  3. Fastening the Short Strap: Pass the shorter strap through the double loop of the long strap, creating a cross pattern.
  4. Adjustment to Fit: Adjust both straps to fit snugly around your suitcase, ensuring they are taut but not overly tight.

Operating Instructions

Once the strap is attached and adjusted, ensure the combination lock is engaged by scrambling the dials. To open, enter your personal 3-digit combination and press the release button (if applicable) or pull the shackle apart. To re-secure, close the lock and scramble the dials again.

The high-visibility color of the strap aids in quick identification of your luggage on baggage carousels.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: The nylon strap can be cleaned with a damp cloth and mild soap. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive cleaners.
  • Storage: When not in use, store the strap in a dry place away from direct sunlight to prolong its lifespan.
  • Inspection: Periodically inspect the strap and buckle for any signs of wear, fraying, or damage. Replace the strap if significant wear is observed to ensure continued security.

Troubleshooting

  • Lock not opening:
    • Ensure you are entering the correct 3-digit combination.
    • Verify that the dials are precisely aligned with the indicator marks.
    • If you forgot your combination, unfortunately, there is no way to reset it without knowing the original code. The lock will need to be cut or replaced.
  • Strap slipping or not staying tight:
    • Ensure the strap is threaded correctly through the adjustable buckle.
    • Tighten the strap firmly around the suitcase. The buckle is designed to hold tension once adjusted.
    • Check for any damage to the buckle or strap material that might prevent it from holding tension.
  • TSA inspection issues:
    • The lock is TSA-approved, meaning security personnel can open it without damaging it. If your luggage was opened, it should have been re-locked by TSA.
    • If you find a "Notice of Baggage Inspection" inside your luggage, it indicates a TSA inspection occurred.
