3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment on the bottom of the timer.
  2. Open the battery compartment cover.
  3. Insert two AAA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-).
  4. Close the battery compartment cover securely.

3.2 Power On/Off

The timer features an ON/OFF switch located on the bottom to prevent accidental power-offs during use or transport. Slide the switch to the 'ON' position to power on the device and to 'OFF' to power it down.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Button Functions

The timer has four main control buttons on the front panel:

  • Up (▲): Used to increase time values or navigate menu options.
  • Reset (↺): Used to reset the timer or confirm settings.
  • Start/Pause (▶∣∣): Used to start, pause, or resume the timer.
  • Down (▼): Used to decrease time values or navigate menu options.

4.2 Timing Modes

The timer supports the following operational modes:

  • Basic: Set a fundamental time for each player. The clock counts down from this set time.
  • Bonus: Set a basic time and an additional bonus time. After each move, the bonus time is added to the player's remaining time.
  • Delay: Set a basic time and a delay time. The clock will wait for the delay period before starting to count down the player's main time.
  • Positive Timing (Count-up): Set the basic time to 0. The clock will count upwards from 0, typically used for general timing without a specific limit.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe the timer with a soft, dry cloth. Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Storage: Store the timer in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures. If storing for extended periods, remove the batteries to prevent leakage.
  • Battery Replacement: Replace batteries when the display becomes dim or the timer functions erratically. Refer to Section 3.1 for battery installation instructions.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Timer does not turn on:
    • Ensure batteries are correctly installed with proper polarity.
    • Replace with fresh AAA batteries.
    • Check if the ON/OFF switch on the bottom is in the 'ON' position.
  • Display is dim or flickering:
    • Batteries may be low. Replace them with new AAA batteries.
  • Buttons are unresponsive:
    • Ensure the timer is powered on.
    • Try resetting the device by removing and reinserting the batteries.
