2. Safety Information

Always prioritize safety when operating or maintaining the engine. Failure to follow safety instructions can result in serious injury or property damage.

  • Read the Manual: Understand all instructions and warnings before use.
  • Ventilation: Operate the engine in a well-ventilated area to avoid carbon monoxide poisoning. Never operate indoors.
  • Fuel Safety: Gasoline is highly flammable. Refuel in a well-ventilated area with the engine off and cool. Avoid spilling fuel.
  • Hot Surfaces: The engine and exhaust system become very hot during operation and remain hot for a period afterward. Avoid contact to prevent burns.
  • Moving Parts: Keep hands, feet, and clothing away from moving parts to prevent entanglement.
  • Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): Wear appropriate safety gear, including eye protection, gloves, and hearing protection.
  • Children and Pets: Keep children and pets away from the engine, especially during operation.

3. Setup

3.1 Unpacking and Inspection

Carefully remove the engine from its packaging. Inspect for any shipping damage. Ensure all components listed in the packing list are present.

3.2 Checking and Adding Engine Oil

The engine is shipped without oil. It is crucial to add the correct type and amount of oil before starting. The engine features a low oil shutdown system that will prevent it from starting or stop it if the oil level is insufficient.

  1. Place the engine on a level surface.
  2. Locate the oil fill cap/dipstick.
  3. Unscrew and remove the dipstick, wipe it clean, and reinsert it without screwing it in.
  4. Remove the dipstick again and check the oil level. It should be at the 'H' (High) mark.
  5. Add approximately 600ml of 4-stroke gasoline engine oil. Recommended viscosity: 10W30 (for ambient temperatures -25°C to 30°C in winter) or 15W40 (for ambient temperatures -15°C to 40°C in summer).
  6. Do not overfill. Reinstall the dipstick securely.

3.3 Adding Fuel

Use clean, fresh unleaded gasoline with an octane rating of 92# or 95#.

  1. Ensure the engine is off and cool.
  2. Open the fuel tank cap.
  3. Carefully pour gasoline into the fuel tank, avoiding overfilling.
  4. When replacing the fuel tank cap, align the two ears on the cap with the concave parts on the tank, then press down and turn to secure it.

3.4 Mounting the Engine

Securely mount the engine to your equipment (e.g., go-kart, log splitter) using appropriate hardware. Ensure the mounting surface is stable and can support the engine's weight and vibrations during operation.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Starting the Engine (Recoil Start)

Follow these steps to start your FOGGBET 15HP engine:

  1. Turn the speed lever to the left side. For new machines, keep it in this position and do not move it initially.
  2. Turn the check valve to the left side.
  3. Turn the fuel control valve on the right side.
  4. Turn the engine switch to the 'ON' position.
  5. Grasp the recoil starter handle firmly and pull it quickly and smoothly until the engine starts. Do not let the rope snap back.
  6. Once the engine starts, turn the check valve to the right side.

4.2 Stopping the Engine

To stop the engine, simply turn the engine switch to the 'OFF' position.

4.3 Operation Tips

  • The engine's efficient cooling system, featuring forced air cooling and a ventilated heat sink, helps maintain optimal operating temperatures for reliability and durability.
  • A high-precision carburetor contributes to low fuel consumption (≤374 g/kw.h), reducing operating costs.
  • The large 1.72-gallon (6.5L) fuel tank allows for extended operation without frequent refueling.
  • The integrated silencer helps reduce noise levels during operation, providing a quieter working environment.

5. Maintenance

Regular maintenance is essential for prolonging the life and ensuring the optimal performance of your engine.

5.1 Air Filter Maintenance

The air filter helps prevent dirt and debris from entering the engine, reducing wear and extending its life. Regularly inspect and clean or replace the air filter as needed, especially when operating in dusty conditions.

5.2 Oil Change

Change the engine oil after the first 20 hours of operation, and then every 50-100 hours or annually, whichever comes first. Refer to the oil type recommendations in Section 3.2.

5.3 Spark Plug Inspection

Inspect the spark plug periodically. Clean or replace it if it is fouled or damaged. Ensure the correct spark plug gap is maintained according to specifications.

5.4 General Cleaning

Keep the engine clean and free of debris. Regularly remove any dirt or grass buildup from the cooling fins to ensure efficient heat dissipation.
