4. Setup and Assembly

Assembly typically takes 30-40 minutes with two adults. Follow these steps carefully.

4.1 Preparation

  • Choose a flat, level outdoor surface for the sandbox.
  • Unpack all components and lay them out, comparing them with the parts list.
  • Gather necessary tools (usually included in the hardware pack, but a screwdriver might be helpful).

4.2 Assembly Steps

  1. Assemble the Base Frame: Connect the main wooden side panels using the provided screws and pre-drilled holes. Ensure all connections are snug but do not overtighten.
  2. Install the Fabric Liner: Once the base frame is assembled, place the fabric liner inside the sandbox area. This liner helps contain the sand and prevents it from mixing with the ground.
  3. Attach Bench Seats: Secure the foldable bench seat panels to the sides of the sandbox frame. These benches are designed to fold inward to cover the sandpit.
  4. Construct the Canopy Frame: Assemble the vertical support poles and horizontal bars for the canopy. Attach these to the designated points on the sandbox frame.
  5. Mount the Sun Canopy: Slide the weather-resistant sun canopy onto the assembled canopy frame. Ensure it is properly aligned and secured.
  6. Final Check: Double-check all screws and connections to ensure they are tight and secure.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Filling the Sandbox

  • Once assembled, fill the sandbox with play sand (not included). Do not overfill; leave sufficient space for children to play comfortably without sand spilling over.

5.2 Using the Adjustable Sun Canopy

  • The sun canopy can be adjusted for angle and height to provide optimal shade. Use the adjustable knobs on the canopy supports to loosen, adjust, and then tighten the canopy into the desired position.
  • When not in use or during inclement weather, the canopy can be lowered completely to act as a protective cover for the sandpit.

5.3 Using the Foldable Bench Seats

  • The two bench seats can be folded outwards to provide seating for children.
  • To cover the sandbox, fold the bench seats inwards. They will meet in the middle, forming a protective lid that helps keep out debris, animals, and rain.

6. Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Wipe down wooden surfaces with a damp cloth as needed. Avoid harsh chemicals. The wood is treated with 100% Non-VOC Water-Based Painting.
  • Sand Care: Regularly rake and aerate the sand to prevent compaction and promote drainage. Replace sand periodically or as needed.
  • Covering: Always cover the sandbox with the folded benches or lowered canopy when not in use to protect the sand from weather, debris, and animals.
  • Inspection: Periodically check all screws and fasteners for tightness. Tighten if necessary. Inspect wooden components for splinters, cracks, or signs of wear. Address any issues promptly to ensure safety.
  • Weather Protection: While the cedar wood is weather-resistant, prolonged exposure to extreme weather conditions may affect its lifespan. Consider applying a wood sealant annually if desired, ensuring it is child-safe.
