Operating Instructions
1. Filling the Cooker
- Add ingredients and liquid to the pressure cooker.
- Do not exceed the maximum fill lines: 2/3 full for most foods, 1/2 full for foods that expand.
2. Closing the Lid
- Place the lid onto the cooker body.
- Align the lid with the pot. The 360° lockable clamps allow the lid to be secured at any position.
- Use the Turn-Open-Lift knob: Twist to release the clamp, then lift the lid. To close, align the lid, press down, and twist the knob to secure.
- Ensure the lid is fully locked and sealed. The safety lock mechanism will prevent the lid from opening when pressure is inside.

Image 4: Illustrates the 360° lockable clamps, which secure the lid safely on the pot at any position around the rim, eliminating concerns about incorrect lid placement.
3. Setting Pressure
- Your Bergner Capri pressure cooker offers two pressure settings:
- Low Working Pressure (L): Approximately 60 kPa. Suitable for delicate foods.
- High Working Pressure (H): Approximately 100 kPa. Suitable for most foods requiring faster cooking.
- Adjust the pressure regulator on the lid to your desired setting (L or H) before heating.

Image 5: Shows the two-level steam release system and the indicators for Low Working Pressure (L, 60kPa) and High Working Pressure (H, 100kPa) on the pressure cooker lid.
4. Cooking
- Place the cooker on a suitable heat source (induction, gas, electric, etc.).
- Heat on high until the pressure indicator rises and steam begins to escape steadily from the valve.
- Once full pressure is reached, reduce heat to maintain a steady pressure.
- Cook for the time specified in your recipe.
5. Releasing Pressure
There are two methods for releasing pressure:
- Natural Release: Remove the cooker from heat and allow it to cool down naturally. Pressure will gradually decrease. This method is ideal for foods that benefit from continued cooking, such as stews and roasts.
- Quick Release: For faster pressure release, carefully turn the steam release valve to the "release" position. Be cautious of hot steam. This method is suitable for delicate foods that can overcook quickly.
Never attempt to open the lid until the pressure indicator has fully dropped and no steam is escaping.
Care and Maintenance
Cleaning
- Always allow the pressure cooker to cool completely before cleaning.
- Wash the cooker body and lid with warm soapy water. Use a non-abrasive sponge or cloth.
- The pressure cooker is dishwasher safe.
- Remove the gasket from the lid and wash it separately. Ensure it is clean and flexible before re-inserting.
- Clean the steam release valve and safety valve regularly to prevent blockages.
- Dry all parts thoroughly before storage.
Storage
- Store the pressure cooker in a dry place.
- It is recommended to store the lid inverted on the pot to allow air circulation and prevent the gasket from compressing permanently.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Pressure not building up | Lid not properly sealed; Gasket damaged or incorrectly placed; Insufficient liquid; Steam release valve open. | Ensure lid is securely locked; Check and reposition/replace gasket; Add more liquid; Close steam release valve. |
| Steam leaking from lid edge | Gasket dirty, damaged, or improperly seated; Lid not closed correctly. | Clean or replace gasket; Ensure lid is properly aligned and locked. |
| Food sticking to bottom | Not enough liquid; Heat too high. | Add more liquid; Reduce heat once pressure is reached. |
| Lid cannot be opened after cooking | Pressure still inside the cooker. | Do not force open. Allow pressure to release completely (natural or quick release) until the pressure indicator drops. |
