Microphone:

The included microphone features a push-to-talk (PTT) button and is designed for clear voice transmission. It connects to the front panel via a standard connector.

Setup and Installation

  1. Mounting: Secure the mounting bracket to a stable surface in your vehicle or operating area using the provided screws. Ensure the location allows for easy access to controls and good ventilation.
  2. Power Connection: Connect the supplied power cable to the radio's 12V DC input. Connect the red wire to the positive (+) terminal of your vehicle's battery or a suitable 12V DC power supply, and the black wire to the negative (-) terminal or chassis ground. Ensure the fuse is correctly installed in the power cable.
  3. Antenna Connection: Connect a properly tuned CB antenna to the antenna connector on the rear of the radio. A well-matched antenna is crucial for optimal performance and to prevent damage to the radio.
  4. Microphone Connection: Plug the microphone connector into the designated port on the front panel of the radio.
  5. Initial Check: Before powering on, double-check all connections for security and correct polarity.

Basic Operation

  1. Power On/Off: Rotate the VOL-SQ knob clockwise to turn the radio on. Continue rotating to adjust the volume. To turn off, rotate counter-clockwise until it clicks.
  2. Channel Selection: Use the channel selector knob (not explicitly visible but standard for CB radios, or assume up/down buttons) to select one of the 40 available channels.
  3. Mode Selection (AM/FM/SSB): Press the MODE button to cycle through AM, FM, LSB (Lower Side Band), and USB (Upper Side Band) modes. The selected mode will be indicated on the display.
  4. Squelch Adjustment: With the radio on, rotate the VOL-SQ knob clockwise until background noise disappears. This is the squelch threshold. For automatic squelch (ASC), refer to the advanced features section.
  5. Transmitting: To transmit, press and hold the Push-To-Talk (PTT) button on the microphone. Speak clearly into the microphone. Release the PTT button to receive.
  6. Receiving: When not transmitting, the radio is in receive mode. Adjust the volume for comfortable listening.

Advanced Features

  • Automatic Squelch Control (ASC): This feature automatically adjusts the squelch level for optimal reception without manual intervention. Activate via the F button and a specific control (refer to full manual for exact combination).
  • Noise Filters (ANL, NB, HI-CUT):
    • ANL (Automatic Noise Limiter): Reduces impulse noise from vehicle ignition systems. Press ANL/NB.
    • NB (Noise Blanker): Further reduces repetitive electrical interference. Press ANL/NB again.
    • HI-CUT Filter: Reduces high-frequency audio components for clearer sound. Press M4 HI-CUT.
  • VOX (Voice Operated Exchange): Allows hands-free transmission by activating the microphone when you speak.
    • VOX SET: Adjusts VOX sensitivity and delay.
    • VOX AG (Anti-Gain): Helps prevent accidental VOX activation from ambient noise.
  • NRC (Noise Reduction Circuit): Enhances audio clarity by actively reducing background noise on received signals. Press the NRC button.
  • Roger Beep: Transmits a short tone at the end of your transmission to signal that you have finished speaking.
  • SWR Automatico (Automatic SWR): The radio features an integrated automatic SWR meter to help ensure your antenna is properly matched. The display may show SWR readings or warnings.
  • Memory Channels: Store frequently used channels for quick access. Use the MEM button to save and recall channels.
  • Scan / Dual Watch (DW):
    • SCAN: Scans through all channels or programmed memory channels.
    • Dual Watch: Monitors two channels simultaneously.
  • RF Gain / Mic Gain:
    • RF Gain: Adjusts the sensitivity of the receiver to optimize reception of strong or weak signals.
    • Mic Gain: Adjusts the microphone sensitivity for optimal modulation.
  • Clarifier: Used in SSB mode to fine-tune the received frequency for clearer voice reproduction.
  • Echo Function: Adds an echo effect to your transmitted voice.
  • Public Address (PA) System: The radio can be used as a PA system by connecting an external speaker to the PA output (typically on the rear panel) and activating the PA function via the M1 PA button.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the radio. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Connections: Periodically check all cable connections (power, antenna, microphone) to ensure they are secure and free from corrosion.
  • Antenna System: Regularly inspect your antenna and coaxial cable for damage. Ensure the SWR is within acceptable limits for optimal performance and to prevent radio damage.
  • Fuse Replacement: If the radio does not power on, check the fuse in the power cable. Replace it with a fuse of the same type and rating.

Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Radio does not power on.No power, blown fuse, incorrect wiring.Check power cable connections. Verify 12V DC supply. Replace fuse if blown.
No reception or poor reception.Antenna not connected, damaged antenna/cable, squelch too high, incorrect mode.Ensure antenna is connected. Check antenna and cable for damage. Lower squelch. Verify correct AM/FM/SSB mode.
Cannot transmit.Microphone not connected, PTT button faulty, antenna issue.Ensure microphone is securely connected. Check PTT button. Verify antenna connection and SWR.
Excessive background noise.Squelch too low, ANL/NB/NRC not active, electrical interference.Increase squelch level. Activate ANL, NB, or NRC filters. Check vehicle's electrical system for interference sources.
