4. Setup

4.1 Initial Charging

  1. Connect the provided charger to the TUF-2000H main unit.
  2. Plug the charger into an AC100-240V power outlet.
  3. Allow approximately 8 hours for a full charge. A fully charged battery provides up to 12 hours of operation.

4.2 Transducer Installation

The accuracy of measurements heavily relies on correct transducer installation. Ensure the pipe surface is clean and free of rust, paint, or debris.

  1. Select Measurement Point: Choose a straight section of pipe, away from pumps, valves, and bends, to ensure stable flow.
  2. Clean Pipe Surface: Thoroughly clean the outer surface of the pipe where the transducers will be mounted.
  3. Apply Coupling Gel: Apply a generous amount of coupling gel to the contact surfaces of both transducers and the pipe. This is crucial for effective ultrasonic signal transmission.
  4. Mount Transducers: Attach the transducers to the pipe using the provided clamps or chains. Ensure they are firmly secured and in direct contact with the pipe surface, with no air gaps. The distance between transducers depends on the pipe diameter and material, which should be calculated using the meter's internal functions or a separate guide.
  5. Connect Cables: Connect the transducer cables to the corresponding ports on the TUF-2000H main unit. Ensure a secure connection.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Power On/Off

  • Power On: Press the 'ON' button on the main unit. The LCD display will illuminate.
  • Power Off: Press the 'OFF' button.

5.2 Basic Measurement

  1. Enter Pipe Parameters: Navigate through the menu using the keypad to input essential pipe parameters such as outer diameter, wall thickness, pipe material, and liquid type. Accurate input is vital for precise measurements.
  2. Set Transducer Spacing: The meter will calculate the optimal transducer spacing based on the entered pipe parameters. Adjust the physical distance between the clamped transducers on the pipe to match this calculated value.
  3. Verify Signal Quality: The display will show signal strength and quality indicators. Adjust transducer position slightly if necessary to achieve optimal signal.
  4. Start Measurement: Once the signal quality is good, the meter will begin displaying real-time flow velocity and accumulated flow.

5.3 Data Logging

The TUF-2000H features a built-in data logger.

  • Access the data logging menu to configure logging intervals and start/stop data recording.
  • The device can store up to 2000 lines of data.
  • Logged data can be retrieved via the RS-232 interface for analysis on a computer.

5.4 Communication Interface

The RS-232 port allows connection to a computer for data transfer and software updates. Refer to the accompanying software manual for detailed instructions on using the communication features.

6. Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning

  • Wipe the main unit and transducers with a soft, damp cloth.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Ensure no liquid enters the device's ports or openings.
  • Clean off any residual coupling gel from transducers and pipe surfaces after use.

6.2 Storage

  • Store the TUF-2000H and its components in the provided carrying case when not in use.
  • Store in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • For long-term storage, ensure the battery is partially charged (around 50%) and recharge every few months to maintain battery health.

6.3 Battery Care

  • Avoid fully discharging the battery frequently.
  • Use only the charger supplied with the device.
  • If the battery performance degrades significantly, contact customer support for replacement options.
