5. Operating Instructions

5.1 Initial Viewing

  1. Remove the dust covers from both the objective lens and the eyepiece.
  2. Adjust the eye cup by twisting it up or down to achieve a comfortable viewing distance. If you wear eyeglasses, you may prefer to keep the eye cup down.
  3. Look through the eyepiece and locate your desired subject.

5.2 Adjusting Magnification (Zoom)

The spotting scope offers a variable magnification from 25x to 75x.

  1. Rotate the zoom eyepiece ring to increase or decrease the magnification.
  2. Start with a lower magnification (25x) to easily locate your subject, then gradually increase the zoom for more detail.

5.3 Focusing the Image

To achieve a clear and sharp image:

  1. While looking through the eyepiece, slowly turn the focusing knob until the image appears sharp and clear.
  2. Fine-tune the focus as needed, especially when changing magnification or observing subjects at different distances.

5.4 Using the Adjustable Sunshade

The integrated sunshade helps to reduce glare from bright light sources and provides additional protection for the objective lens.

  • Gently slide the sunshade forward until it is fully extended.
  • Retract the sunshade when not needed or for storage.

6. Care and Maintenance

6.1 Cleaning the Lenses

Proper cleaning of the lenses is crucial for maintaining optical clarity.

  • Use the provided cleaning cloth or a soft, lint-free cloth specifically designed for optics.
  • Gently wipe the lens surfaces to remove dust or smudges. Avoid excessive pressure.
  • For stubborn dirt, a small amount of lens cleaning fluid can be applied to the cloth, not directly to the lens.
  • Never use abrasive cloths, paper towels, or household cleaners, as these can scratch or damage the lens coatings.

6.2 Storage

When not in use, store your spotting scope properly to protect it from dust, moisture, and impact.

  • Always replace the lens covers on both the objective lens and the eyepiece.
  • Store the scope in its padded carry bag.
  • Keep the scope in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

6.3 Weather Resistance

The NWDEY 25-75X60 Spotting Scope is IPX5 water-resistant and fog-resistant, designed to withstand light rain and humid conditions.

7. Troubleshooting

ProblemPossible CauseSolution
Image is blurry or out of focus.Incorrect focus adjustment.Rotate the focusing knob slowly until the image becomes sharp.
Dark edges or vignetting in the view.Eye cup not properly adjusted or eyeglasses interfering.Adjust the eye cup for optimal eye relief. If wearing glasses, ensure the eye cup is fully retracted.
Unstable image or shaking.Tripod not stable or not fully extended/locked.Ensure tripod legs are fully extended and locked. Place tripod on a flat, stable surface. Avoid touching the scope unnecessarily during observation.
Phone adapter image is not clear or centered.Phone lens not aligned with eyepiece; phone camera settings.Carefully adjust phone position on the adapter until the image is centered and clear. Ensure your phone's main camera lens is selected (e.g., use Portrait Mode or lock to 1x lens on some iPhone models).
Fogging of lenses.Rapid temperature change or high humidity.Allow the scope to acclimate to the ambient temperature. The scope is fog-resistant, but extreme conditions can still cause temporary fogging. Store in a dry place.
