1. Product Overview

The keepLiNK KP-9000-9XHML-X is a high-performance 8-port 2.5G Web Managed Ethernet Switch designed to expand your network bandwidth and reduce traffic bottlenecks. It features eight 2.5GBASE-T Ethernet ports and one 10G SFP+ slot, offering versatile connectivity for various network devices.

This intelligent web-managed switch provides essential management functions, including device/port status queries and configurations for VLAN, QoS, Multicast, MAC, and Static Link Aggregation, all accessible via a user-friendly web interface.

2. Setup Guide

2.1 Package Contents

Before you begin, ensure all items are present in the package:

• keepLiNK 2.5G Web Managed Switch (KP-9000-9XHML-X)
• Power Adapter
• User Manual (this document)

2.2 Physical Installation

The switch supports both desktop placement and wall mounting.

1. Power Connection: Connect the provided power adapter to the DC Input Port (12V 1.5A) on the rear panel of the switch and then plug it into a power outlet.
2. Network Connections:
   • Connect your network devices (computers, NAS, Wi-Fi 6 APs, servers) to the 8 x 2.5G RJ45 ports (L1-L8) using Cat6 or higher Ethernet cables for optimal performance.
   • For high-speed uplink or backbone connections, insert a compatible 10G SFP+ module (not included) into the 10G SFP slot (Port 9) and connect it to your network infrastructure. This slot also supports 1G/2.5G modules.

2.3 Initial Web Interface Access

To configure the switch, access its web-based management interface:

1. Ensure your computer is connected to one of the switch's RJ45 ports.
2. Set your computer's IP address to be in the same subnet as the switch's default IP. For example, if the switch's default IP is 192.168.2.1, set your computer's IP to 192.168.2.X (where X is not 1) with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0.
3. Open a web browser and enter the default IP address of the switch: http://192.168.2.1.
4. When prompted, enter the default login credentials:
   • User Name: admin
   • Password: admin
5. Upon successful login, you will be directed to the switch's management dashboard. It is highly recommended to change the default password immediately for security reasons.

3. Operation and Configuration

The keepLiNK KP-9000-9XHML-X offers a range of Layer 2 management features accessible through its web interface.

3.1 Key Features and Configuration

• VLAN (Virtual Local Area Network): Configure VLANs to segment your network, improving security and performance by isolating traffic. The switch supports IEEE 802.1Q VLANs.
• QoS (Quality of Service): Prioritize network traffic to ensure critical applications (e.g., VoIP, video streaming) receive sufficient bandwidth, reducing latency and jitter.
• Multicast (IGMP Snooping): Optimize multicast traffic delivery by preventing it from flooding all ports, which is beneficial for applications like IPTV.
• MAC Address Management: View and manage MAC address tables for connected devices.
• Static Link Aggregation (802.3ad): Combine multiple physical Ethernet links into a single logical link to increase bandwidth and provide redundancy.

  Note: This switch supports Static Link Aggregation only. Dynamic Link Aggregation (LACP) is not supported.

• Jumbo Frame Support: Supports 16KB Jumbo Frames, which can improve throughput for large data transfers by allowing larger Ethernet frames.
• Loop Prevention: Features like Spanning Tree Protocol (STP) help prevent network loops that can cause broadcast storms and network instability.
• Bandwidth Control: Manage bandwidth per port to allocate network resources effectively.

4. Maintenance

4.1 General Care

• Keep the switch in a cool, dry environment.
• Avoid exposing the device to direct sunlight, high temperatures, or excessive humidity.
• Clean the exterior with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosols.
• Ensure proper ventilation around the device, even though it features a fanless design.

4.2 Fanless Cooling and Metal Housing

The keepLiNK KP-9000-9XHML-X utilizes a robust metal casing and a fanless cooling method. This design ensures:

• Silent Operation: No fan noise, making it ideal for quiet environments like homes or offices.
• Enhanced Durability: The metal housing provides better heat dissipation and protection against physical damage.

4.3 Factory Reset

To restore the switch to its factory default settings:

1. Locate the "Reset" button on the front panel of the switch.
2. With the switch powered on, use a paperclip or a similar pointed object to press and hold the "Reset" button for approximately 6 seconds.
3. Release the button. The switch will reboot with its factory default settings, including the IP address (192.168.2.1) and login credentials (admin/admin).

5. Troubleshooting

5.1 Common Issues and Solutions

• No Power:
  • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to the switch and a working power outlet.
  • Verify the power outlet is active.
• No Link Light on Port:
  • Check the Ethernet cable connection at both ends (switch and connected device).
  • Try a different Ethernet cable.
  • Ensure the connected device is powered on and its network adapter is enabled.
  • For 2.5G connections, ensure both devices and the cable (Cat6 or higher) support 2.5G speeds.
• Cannot Access Web Management Interface:
  • Verify your computer's IP address is in the same subnet as the switch (default 192.168.2.X).
  • Ensure you are using the correct default IP address (192.168.2.1) and credentials (admin/admin).
  • Clear your browser's cache or try a different browser.
  • Temporarily disable any firewall or antivirus software on your computer that might be blocking access.
  • If the IP address was changed and forgotten, perform a factory reset (refer to Section 4.3).
• Slow Network Speed:
  • Ensure all connected devices (NICs, NAS, routers) support 2.5G speeds for optimal performance.
  • Use Cat6 or higher Ethernet cables for 2.5G and 10G connections. Cat5e cables are limited to 1Gbps.
  • Check for network congestion or loops (though the switch has loop prevention, misconfigurations can occur).
  • Verify QoS settings if you are experiencing performance issues with specific applications.
