1. Introduction

The RK ROYAL KLUDGE R65 is a 60% wired mechanical keyboard designed for gaming and typing, featuring a gasket-mounted structure, RGB backlighting, a programmable knob, MDA profile PBT keycaps, and hot-swappable switches. 3. Setup

To set up your RK ROYAL KLUDGE R65 keyboard:

  1. Connect the provided USB-C cable to the USB-C port on the keyboard.
  2. Connect the other end of the USB-C cable to an available USB port on your computer or gaming console.
  3. The keyboard will be automatically recognized by your operating system (Windows or macOS) and will be ready for use.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1. Volume Knob Functionality

The metal knob located on the top right of the keyboard provides convenient control over audio settings:

  • Rotate Clockwise: Increases system volume.
  • Rotate Counter-clockwise: Decreases system volume.
  • Press: Toggles mute/unmute for system audio.

4.2. RGB Backlight Control

5. Customization

5.1. Hot-Swappable Switches

The RK R65 features a high-quality PCB board compatible with 3-pin and 5-pin mechanical switches. This allows users to easily change switches without soldering, enabling a high degree of customization for typing feel and sound. The keyboard comes pre-installed with RK's customized pre-lubricated linear cream switches, known for their creamy sound and smooth keystroke.

5.2. MDA Profile PBT Keycaps

The keyboard is equipped with MDA profile PBT keycaps. These keycaps are manufactured using double-shot technology, providing a matte surface that resists fading and offers enhanced durability and a longer lifespan. The MDA profile is designed for a comfortable tactile experience and an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

5.3. QMK/VIA Programmability

The RK R65 supports QMK/VIA programming, an open-source software that allows for extensive customization of keyboard functions. Through VIA software, you can:

The RK R65 employs a gasket mount design with five layers of sound-absorbing material, including Poron cotton between the PCB and casing. This construction effectively reduces noise and vibration, optimizing switch acoustics for a comfortable and soft typing experience.

6.2. Custom Cream Switches

The pre-lubed cream switches are linear switches designed to provide a unique, creamy sound and an excellent smooth keystroke feel. Their specifications include an operating force of 45±10gf, a conduction stroke of 2.0±0.4mm, and a total travel of 3.4±0.4mm, ensuring consistent performance for up to 8 million clicks.
