Setup and Installation

Follow these steps for proper installation of the wiring harness with your aftermarket Android stereo.

Step 1: Prepare Your Vehicle

  1. Ensure the vehicle's ignition is off and the battery is disconnected to prevent electrical shorts.
  2. Carefully remove the factory radio from your vehicle's dashboard. Refer to your vehicle's specific service manual for detailed instructions on radio removal.

Step 2: Connect the Harness

  1. Identify the factory radio connectors in your vehicle.
  2. Connect the 10-pin power adapter and 6-pin speaker adapter from the JAYUBIEN harness to the corresponding factory connectors in your vehicle. These are designed for direct plug-and-play connection.
  3. Connect the 16-pin ISO adapter end of the JAYUBIEN harness to the matching 16-pin ISO connector on your aftermarket Android car stereo.

Step 3: Wiring Specific Functions (SWC and Reverse)

The harness includes dedicated wires for Steering Wheel Control (SWC) and Reverse Camera functions.

  • Steering Wheel Control (SWC): Connect the labeled "KEY" wire from the harness directly to your car's steering wheel control cable. This allows your steering wheel buttons to control the aftermarket stereo.
  • Reverse Control Cable: Connect the labeled "REVERSE" wire from the harness to your car's back camera RCA detection cable. This enables the automatic display of the reverse camera feed when the vehicle is in reverse gear.

Step 4: Using Butt Connectors

The included butt connectors are for secure wire connections, especially if you need to extend or splice wires.

  1. Prepare Wires: Carefully tear or strip the PVC jacket from the ends of the wires you intend to connect. If wires are too long, they can be trimmed.
  2. Insert Wires: Insert the stripped wire ends into the butt connector. These connectors are suitable for 18AWG-22AWG cables.
  3. Crimp: Use a plier tool to crimp one side of the butt connector firmly onto the wire. Repeat for the other side to secure the connection. Note: These are crimp-only connectors and do not require heat shrinking.
Instructions for using butt connectors: strip wire, insert into connector, crimp.

Figure 4: Visual guide for using the butt connectors: (1) stripping the wire, (2) inserting into the connector, and (3) crimping with pliers.

Step 5: Final Assembly

  1. Once all connections are made, carefully route the wires to avoid pinching or damage.
  2. Reconnect the vehicle's battery.
  3. Test the aftermarket stereo and all connected functions (audio, steering wheel controls, reverse camera) before fully reassembling the dashboard.
  4. Securely reinstall the aftermarket stereo and any removed dashboard panels.

Operating Instructions

This wiring harness facilitates the operation of your aftermarket Android stereo. Refer to your specific stereo's user manual for detailed operating instructions.

Key Functions Enabled by the Harness:

  • Power and Speaker Connectivity: Provides standard power and speaker connections from the vehicle to the aftermarket stereo.
  • Steering Wheel Control (SWC): Allows the aftermarket stereo to receive signals from the vehicle's steering wheel controls, enabling functions like volume adjustment, track skipping, and mode changes directly from the steering wheel.
  • Reverse Camera Trigger: Activates the reverse camera input on the aftermarket stereo when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, displaying the camera feed on the stereo screen.

Maintenance

The JAYUBIEN wiring harness is designed for durability and requires minimal maintenance.

  • Regular Inspection: Periodically check the connections for any signs of wear, corrosion, or looseness, especially if you experience intermittent issues with your stereo.
  • Cleaning: Keep the harness and connectors free from dust and debris. Use a dry, soft cloth for cleaning. Do not use liquid cleaners directly on the connectors.
  • Avoid Stress: Ensure the harness is not subjected to excessive pulling, bending, or pinching, which could damage the wires or connectors.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues after installing the wiring harness, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

Steering wheel controls not working
  • "KEY" wire not connected or incorrectly connected
  • Stereo requires SWC programming
  • Verify the "KEY" wire is securely connected to the vehicle's SWC wire.
  • Refer to your aftermarket stereo's manual for instructions on programming steering wheel controls.
Reverse camera not activating
  • "REVERSE" wire not connected or incorrectly connected
  • Camera or stereo issue
