5. Setup

5.1. Battery Installation (If Required)

The thermometer comes with a pre-installed battery. If the battery needs replacement, follow these steps:

1. Gently twist and pull off the battery cap at the end of the thermometer.
2. Remove the old battery and insert a new CR1220 or equivalent button cell battery with the positive (+) side facing up.
3. Replace the battery cap securely.

5.2. Selecting Temperature Unit (℉/℃)

To switch between Fahrenheit (℉) and Celsius (℃):

7.1. Oral Measurement (for Adults and Older Children)

1. Place the thermometer tip under the tongue, as close to the heat pocket as possible.
2. Close your mouth and hold the thermometer in place with your lips and fingers. Avoid biting.
3. Wait for the completion beeps (approx. 10 seconds) and read the temperature.

7.2. Rectal Measurement (for Infants and Young Children)

Rectal measurement is generally considered the most accurate method for infants and young children.

1. Apply a water-soluble lubricant to the thermometer tip.
2. Gently insert the tip no more than 0.5 inches (1.3 cm) into the rectum. Do not force it.
3. Hold the thermometer in place until the completion beeps sound.

7.3. Underarm (Axillary) Measurement
