- Attach the Splash Guard (Optional): If using, slide the splash guard over the mixer head and bowl before lowering the head.
5. Operating Instructions
5.1 Adding Ingredients
With the mixer head lowered and an attachment installed, you can begin adding ingredients to the bowl. The splash guard helps prevent splattering during mixing. For best results, add dry ingredients first, then wet ingredients.
5.2 Speed Control
The Cuisinart Precision Master Pro features an adjustable speed control knob. Turn the knob to select the desired speed setting. Start at a low speed and gradually increase as needed to prevent ingredients from splashing out of the bowl.
- Low Speeds (1-3): Ideal for gentle stirring, combining dry ingredients, mashing potatoes, or starting to mix heavy batters.
- Medium Speeds (4-6): Suitable for creaming butter and sugar, mixing cakes, or beating eggs.
- High Speeds (7-12): Best for whipping cream, egg whites, or light batters.
5.3 Using Attachments
- Wire Whip: Use for mixtures that need air incorporated, such as egg whites, heavy cream, and frostings.
- Flat Mixing Paddle: Use for normal to heavy mixtures, such as cakes, cookies, pastries, and icings.
- Dough Hook: Use for kneading yeast doughs for bread, pizza, and pasta.
5.4 Stopping Operation
To stop the mixer, turn the speed control knob to the 'OFF' position. Unplug the mixer from the power outlet before removing the bowl or attachments.
6. Maintenance and Cleaning
Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your stand mixer.
6.1 Cleaning the Mixer Base
- Always unplug the mixer before cleaning.
- Wipe the mixer base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the mixer base in water or any other liquid.
- Do not use abrasive cleaners or scouring pads, as they may scratch the surface.
6.2 Cleaning the Bowl and Attachments
- The stainless steel bowl, wire whip, flat mixing paddle, and dough hook are dishwasher safe (top rack recommended) or can be washed by hand in warm, soapy water.
- Rinse thoroughly and dry immediately after washing to prevent water spots or corrosion.
6.3 Storage
Store the mixer and its attachments in a clean, dry place. Ensure all parts are completely dry before storing.
7. Troubleshooting
| Problem | Possible Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Mixer does not turn on. | Not plugged in; power outlet not working; mixer head not fully lowered/locked. | Ensure power cord is securely plugged into a working outlet. Check that the mixer head is fully lowered and locked into place. |
| Attachment not reaching bottom of bowl. | Attachment not properly installed; bowl not properly seated. | Ensure attachment is fully pushed onto the shaft and rotated to lock. Verify the bowl is securely locked into the base. |
| Mixer seems to struggle with heavy dough. | Overloaded; dough too stiff. | Reduce the amount of ingredients. Add a small amount of liquid (e.g., water or milk) to soften the dough if necessary. Do not exceed recommended capacity. |
