2. Safety Guidelines

  • Proper Sizing: Ensure the crate size is appropriate for your dog. The internal dimensions are 36.2" L x 20.4" W x 23.8" H, suitable for dogs up to 65 lbs, with a height (feet to head) ≤ 21 inches and length (nose to hip) ≤ 33 inches.
  • Chewing Habits: This product is constructed from MDF and steel wire. It is not designed for dogs with heavy chewing habits. Constant chewing can damage the crate and pose a safety risk to your pet.
  • Escape Artists: The crate is not suitable for dogs known to be escape artists, as persistent attempts to escape may compromise the crate's integrity.
  • Indoor Use Only: This furniture is designed for indoor use. Exposure to outdoor elements can damage the materials.
  • Assembly: Follow all assembly instructions carefully. Ensure all fasteners are securely tightened before allowing your pet to use the crate.
  • Supervision: Always supervise your pet, especially during initial use, to ensure they adapt safely to the crate.

3. Setup and Assembly

Assembly of the Piskyet Dog Crate Furniture requires careful attention to detail. While the process is straightforward, it may take some time to complete. It is recommended to have two people for assembly to ensure stability and ease of handling larger components.

3.1 Package Contents

Before beginning assembly, verify that all components are present and undamaged. The package should include:

  • MDF panels (top, bottom, sides, back)
  • Steel wire panels for doors and sides
  • Barn door sliding hardware (track, rollers, handles)
  • Fasteners (screws, dowels, cam locks, etc.)
  • 1.5-inch thick coral fleece soft cushion
  • Assembly instructions (refer to the included diagram for specific part identification)

3.2 Assembly Steps

  1. Unpack and Organize: Carefully remove all components from the packaging. Lay them out on a clean, soft surface to prevent scratches. Identify each part using the provided assembly diagram.
  2. Assemble Frame: Begin by attaching the side panels to the bottom panel using the designated fasteners. Ensure all connections are snug but do not overtighten.
  3. Install Back Panel: Secure the back panel to the assembled frame.
  4. Attach Top Panel: Place and secure the top panel, ensuring it aligns correctly with the side and back panels.
  5. Install Door Tracks: Mount the barn door sliding track to the top panel as indicated in the instructions. Ensure the lower raised track for the door is also installed correctly to ensure stable operation.
  6. Attach Doors: Install the sliding barn door and the hinged side door. Ensure the sliding door moves freely along its track.
  7. Final Checks: Once fully assembled, gently shake the crate to check for stability. Tighten any loose fasteners. Place the coral fleece cushion inside the crate.

4. Operating Instructions

The Piskyet Dog Crate Furniture features a dual-door design for versatile placement and easy access.

4.1 Sliding Barn Door Operation

  • The main front door operates on a barn door sliding mechanism. Gently slide the door along the top track to open or close it.
  • The lower part of the door is equipped with a raised track to guide its movement and ensure stability.
  • Two noise-reducing pads are located on the left side of the door to minimize sound during sliding operation.

5. Maintenance

Regular cleaning and maintenance will prolong the life of your dog crate furniture.

  • Crate Surface: The MDF board material has a waterproof surface for indoor use. Wipe down the wooden and steel wire surfaces with a damp cloth and mild detergent as needed. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals.
  • Cushion Care: The included 1.5-inch thick coral fleece soft cushion is machine washable. Follow the care instructions on the cushion's label for best results.
  • Hardware: Periodically check all screws and fasteners to ensure they remain tight. Lubricate the sliding door track if movement becomes stiff, using a pet-safe lubricant.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Door Not Sliding Smoothly: Check the top track for any obstructions or debris. Ensure the lower raised track is clean. Verify that the rollers are properly seated in the track. If necessary, apply a small amount of pet-safe lubricant to the track.
  • Crate Instability: Ensure all screws and fasteners are securely tightened. If the crate still feels unstable, disassemble and reassemble, paying close attention to each connection point.
  • Dog Chewing on Crate: This crate is not designed for heavy chewers. If your dog exhibits destructive chewing behavior, consider alternative chew-resistant crates or consult with a professional trainer for behavior modification.
  • Noise from Sliding Door: Verify that the anti-vibration pads are correctly positioned on the left side of the door. Clean the track to ensure smooth movement.
