Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and optimal performance of your Avolusion PRO-X External Hard Drive, consider the following:

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior of the drive. Avoid liquid cleaners or abrasive materials.
  • Ventilation: Ensure the drive is placed in a location with adequate airflow to prevent overheating, especially during extended use.
  • Handling: Handle the drive with care. Avoid dropping it or subjecting it to strong impacts, as this can damage the internal components.
  • Power Down: Always safely eject the drive from your computer's operating system before disconnecting the USB cable or powering off the device.

Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your external hard drive, try the following solutions:

  • Drive Not Detected:
    • Ensure the power adapter is securely connected to both the drive and a working power outlet.
    • Verify the USB cable is firmly connected to both the drive and your computer.
    • Try connecting the USB cable to a different USB port on your computer.
    • Ensure the 'ON/OFF' switch on the drive is in the 'ON' position.
    • Restart your computer.
  • Slow Data Transfer:
    • Ensure the drive is connected to a USB 3.0 port on your computer for optimal speed. USB 2.0 ports will result in slower transfer rates.
    • Avoid transferring many small files simultaneously, as this can be slower than transferring a few large files.
  • Drive Appears Offline or Unallocated:
    • Check Disk Management in Windows to see if the drive is listed. It may need to be initialized or assigned a drive letter. Caution: Initializing a drive will erase all data.
