Controls:

Setup

Powering the Radio:

The radio can be powered by the included AC adapter or by batteries (not included).

  1. AC Power:

    Connect the AC power adapter to the "AC Power Input" port on the back of the radio. Plug the other end into a standard wall outlet. The radio will power on automatically or can be turned on using the O/Mode button.

  2. Battery Power:

    For portable use, insert 4 x C-size batteries (not included) into the battery compartment on the back of the radio. Ensure correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment. Close the battery cover securely.

Antenna:

Extend the telescopic antenna fully for optimal DAB/DAB+ and FM radio reception. Adjust its position for the best signal quality.

Operating Instructions

Power On/Off:

Press the O/Mode button to turn the radio on or off.

Selecting Modes:

Press the O/Mode button repeatedly to cycle through available modes: DAB, FM, Bluetooth, and AUX.

DAB/DAB+ Radio Operation:

  1. Switch to DAB mode using the O/Mode button.
  2. The radio will automatically perform a full scan for available DAB/DAB+ stations upon first use or if no stations are found. To manually initiate a scan, press the Scan button.
  3. Once scanning is complete, use the Prev and Next buttons to navigate through the list of available stations.
  4. Press the Volume/Select knob to select a station.
  5. To save a station as a preset, press and hold the Preset button, then use the Prev/Next buttons to choose a preset number and press Volume/Select to confirm.

FM Radio Operation:

  1. Switch to FM mode using the O/Mode button.
  2. Press the Scan button to automatically scan and store available FM stations.
  3. Alternatively, use the Prev and Next buttons to manually tune the frequency.
  4. To save an FM station as a preset, follow the same steps as for DAB radio using the Preset button.

Bluetooth Mode:

  1. Switch to Bluetooth mode using the O/Mode button. The radio will display "Bluetooth" and enter pairing mode.
  2. On your smartphone or other Bluetooth device, enable Bluetooth and search for available devices.
  3. Select "ByronStatics Radio" (or similar name) from the list to pair.
  4. Once paired, you can play audio from your device through the radio's speaker. Use your device's controls for playback and the radio's volume knob for volume adjustment.

AUX-in Mode:

  1. Connect a 3.5mm audio cable (not included) from your external audio device's headphone or line-out jack to the radio's 3.5mm Aux-in Jack.
  2. Switch to AUX mode using the O/Mode button.
  3. Play audio from your external device. Control playback and volume primarily from the external device, adjusting the radio's volume as needed.

Setting Time and Alarms:

The radio features an integrated clock and alarm function.

  • Time Synchronization: In DAB mode, the time is usually synchronized automatically via the DAB signal.
  • Manual Time Setting: If automatic synchronization is not available or desired, access the menu (press Menu/Info) to find time settings and adjust manually.
  • Setting Alarms: Press the Alarm button to enter alarm setup. Follow the on-screen prompts to set alarm time, source (buzzer, DAB, or FM), and volume.
  • Snooze Function: When an alarm sounds, press the Snooze button to temporarily pause it.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the radio's exterior. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
  • Battery Replacement: If using battery power, replace all 4 C-size batteries when the low battery indicator appears or when performance degrades. Ensure correct polarity.
  • Storage: If storing the radio for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage. Store in a cool, dry place.
  • Antenna Care: Handle the telescopic antenna gently to avoid bending or breaking.

Troubleshooting

No power / Radio does not turn on.
  • Ensure the AC adapter is securely connected to both the radio and a working power outlet.
  • If using batteries, check if they are inserted correctly with the right polarity and are not depleted. Replace if necessary.
Poor DAB/FM reception or no stations found.
  • Fully extend the telescopic antenna.
  • Adjust the antenna's position and orientation.
  • Move the radio to a different location, away from potential interference sources (e.g., other electronic devices, thick walls).
  • Perform a full scan for stations again.
Bluetooth device cannot pair.
  • Ensure the radio is in Bluetooth mode.
  • Make sure Bluetooth is enabled on your external device and it is within range (typically 10 meters).
  • Check if the radio is already paired with another device. Disconnect from other devices if necessary.
  • Restart both the radio and your Bluetooth device.
No sound from AUX-in.
  • Ensure the radio is in AUX mode.
  • Check that the 3.5mm audio cable is securely connected to both the radio and the external device.
  • Verify the volume levels on both the radio and the external device.
Display is blank or frozen.
  • Try turning the radio off and on again.
  • If the issue persists, disconnect power (both AC and batteries) for a few minutes, then reconnect.
