3. Setup

  1. Unpacking: Carefully remove the microscope and all accessories from the packaging. Retain the packaging for future storage or transport.
  2. Eyepiece Installation: The microscope features a trinocular head. Remove the lens caps from the binocular eyepieces and the third viewing piece. Insert the desired eyepieces (e.g., WF10X, WF25X) into the eyepiece tubes. Ensure they are fully seated.
  3. Power Connection: Connect the provided 5V2A adapter to the microscope's power input and then to a suitable power outlet.
  4. Head Adjustment: The main eyepiece head can be unlocked and rotated 360 degrees, and the binocular eyepieces can be adjusted for interpupillary distance and angle (30° inclination) for comfortable viewing.
  5. Stage Preparation: Ensure the mechanical stage is clean and free of debris. The dual-layer stage is designed to secure specimens.

4. Operating Instructions

  1. Placing a Specimen: Place your prepared slide onto the mechanical stage. Use the stage clips to gently secure the slide in place.
  2. Selecting Magnification: Rotate the revolving nosepiece to select the desired objective lens (4X, 10X, 40X, 100X). The microscope offers 12 magnification options, combining eyepieces (10X, 25X, 2X Auxiliary Lens) and objectives to achieve magnifications from 40X to 5000X.
  3. Microscope objectives and magnification details

Figure 4.1: Close-up view of the microscope objectives, highlighting the 3 eyepieces and 4 objectives that provide a 40-5000X magnification range and 12 adjustable magnification times for high-definition imaging.

  4. Adjusting Illumination: Turn on the adjustable LED lighting system. Use the light intensity control to set the appropriate brightness for your specimen. The condenser lens and aperture slider below the stage allow for further control over light concentration and illumination, ensuring optimal clarity.
  5. Focusing:
    • Coarse Adjustment: Use the larger coarse adjustment knob to bring the specimen into approximate focus. Be cautious not to let the objective lens hit the slide, especially with higher magnification objectives.
    • Fine Adjustment: Use the smaller fine adjustment knob for precise focusing and to achieve sharp image clarity. The fine adjustment allows for very small movements (e.g., 1.3 mm for fine adjustment vs. 14 mm for coarse adjustment).
  6. Microscope focusing knobs and light adjustment

Figure 4.2: Illustrates the ultra-precise focusing system with coarse (14 mm) and fine (1.3 mm) adjustments, along with the adjustable LED lighting and condenser lens for clear views.

  7. Stage Movement: Use the mechanical stage control knobs to move the slide left/right and forward/backward, allowing you to scan the specimen and position the area of interest precisely in the field of view.
  8. Using the Phone Holder: To capture images or video, attach the phone holder to one of the eyepieces. Secure your smartphone in the holder and align its camera with the eyepiece to view and record the microscopic image.

5. Maintenance

  • Cleaning Lenses: Use only specialized lens cleaning paper and lens cleaning solution to clean the objective lenses and eyepieces. Gently wipe in a circular motion. Avoid using harsh chemicals or abrasive materials that can scratch the lenses.
  • Cleaning Body: Wipe the microscope body with a soft, damp cloth. Do not use excessive water or cleaning agents.
  • Storage: When not in use, cover the microscope with a dust cover to protect it from dust and debris. Store it in a cool, dry place.
  • Handling: Always carry the microscope by its arm and base. Avoid sudden movements or impacts.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Blurry Image:
    • Ensure both coarse and fine adjustment knobs are used correctly to focus.
    • Check if the objective lens is clean. Dust or smudges can significantly affect image clarity.
    • Verify that the specimen slide is correctly placed and secured on the stage.
    • For 100X objective, immersion oil is typically required for clear viewing. Ensure proper application if applicable.
  • No Light/Flickering Light:
    • Check if the power adapter is securely connected to both the microscope and the power outlet.
    • Ensure the power switch is in the 'ON' position.
    • Adjust the light intensity control.
  • Difficulty Moving Stage/Focus Knobs:
    • Do not force the knobs. If stiff, apply a small amount of specialized lubricant (not included) to moving parts as per general microscope maintenance guidelines, or contact support.
    • Ensure no debris is obstructing the movement mechanisms.
  • Missing Components:
    • Refer to the 'What's in the Box' section. If any listed components are missing upon arrival, contact VEVOR customer support immediately.
