3. Setup

3.1 Battery Installation

This paint sprayer is compatible with Ryobi 18V Li-ion and Ni-CD batteries (e.g., P100, P102). For optimal performance and increased pressure, larger capacity batteries are recommended. Note that batteries are not included. Expect to spray approximately 4-5 doors with 18V 4Ah batteries.

3.2 Nozzle Selection

The kit includes four brass spray tips, each designed for different paint flow rates and project types:

3.3 Paint Preparation & Viscosity Testing

Before using, it is essential to test and adjust the paint's viscosity. Paints with high viscosity should be thinned appropriately to ensure smooth application and prevent clogging. Use the provided viscosity cup to test the paint.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Adjusting Spray Patterns

The paint sprayer features three adjustable spray patterns: vertical, horizontal, and circular. Rotate the air cap to select the desired pattern for your project.

4.2 Adjusting Flow Rate

The flow control knob allows you to adjust the amount of paint sprayed, providing versatility for different projects and desired finishes. Turn the knob to increase or decrease the flow.

4.3 Application Tips

5. Maintenance

5.1 Cleaning Instructions

Proper cleaning after each use is crucial to prevent clogging and ensure the longevity of your paint sprayer. Follow these steps:

  1. After painting, empty any remaining paint from the container.
  2. Fill the painting container with water (or appropriate cleaning solution for your paint type) and spray until clean water comes out.
  3. Detach the head from the motor base.
  4. Fully soak the detached head and its components.
  5. Use the provided cleaning needle to open the air hole at the top of the white tube.
  6. Use the cleaning brush for thorough cleaning of all parts, including the nozzle.
  7. Allow all components to dry completely before reassembling or storing.

6. Troubleshooting

  • Uneven Spray or Spitting: This is often due to paint viscosity. Ensure your paint is thinned correctly according to the viscosity guidelines in Section 3.3.
  • No Spray or Low Pressure: Check if the battery is fully charged and properly inserted. Verify that the nozzle is not clogged and that all connections are secure.
  • Clogging: Always clean the sprayer thoroughly immediately after each use. Ensure paint is properly strained and thinned before use.
  • Battery Life: For extended projects, consider using higher capacity batteries or having spare charged batteries on hand. Intermittent spraying can also help optimize battery life.
