1. Introduction

6. Setup

6.1. Battery Installation

  1. Locate the battery compartment cover on the back of the meter.
  2. Slide or unclip the cover to open the compartment.
  3. Insert 4 x AA batteries, ensuring correct polarity (+/-) as indicated inside the compartment.
  4. Replace the battery compartment cover securely.

Note: Always use fresh batteries for optimal performance. Remove batteries if the meter will not be used for an extended period to prevent leakage.

7. Operating Instructions

7.1. Power On/Off

  • To Power On: Press the On/Off button. The LCD display will light up.
  • To Power Off: Press and hold the On/Off button for a few seconds until the display turns off. The meter will also automatically shut down after 15 minutes of inactivity to conserve battery life.

7.2. Crop Selection

  1. After powering on, press the Varieties button to cycle through the available crop codes (P0 to P14).
  2. Select the crop code that matches the material you intend to measure. Refer to the "Crop Codes and Measuring Ranges" table in Section 5.1.

7.3. Taking a Measurement

  1. Ensure the correct crop type is selected on the display.
  2. Carefully insert the steel probes into the grain or crop material. Ensure both probes are fully submerged and making good contact with the material. The double-rod design allows for measuring moisture distribution at different depths.
  3. The moisture reading will be displayed on the LCD screen.
  4. For consistent results, take multiple readings in different areas of the material.
  5. Remove the probes gently after measurement.

7.4. Voice Broadcast Function

  • Toggle Voice: Press the Voice button to turn the voice broadcast on or off. When active, the meter will announce measured values and operational prompts.
  • Language Switching: To switch between English and Chinese voice broadcast, press and hold the On/Off button and the Voice button simultaneously while the device is powered off.

7.5. Deviation Adjustment

If calibration is needed or if you wish to adjust the reading based on a known standard, you can use the deviation adjustment feature:

  1. Press the Adjust button. The deviation value will appear on the screen.
  2. Use the Limit (-) and Plus (+) buttons to adjust the deviation within the range of -3% to +5%.
  3. Press the Adjust button again to save the setting and exit.

7.6. Limit Setting (Moisture Alarm)

You can set an upper and lower moisture limit. If the measured value exceeds these limits, the meter may provide an alert (e.g., voice broadcast "high moisture content" if enabled).

  1. Press and hold the Limit (-) button for 2 seconds. The current limit value will be displayed.
  2. Use the Limit (-) and Plus (+) buttons to adjust the desired moisture limit. The setting value range is 10% - 40%.
  3. Press the Limit (-) button again to save the setting and exit.
  4. To restore the limit to 10% of the set value, press and hold the Limit (-) button for 2 seconds.

8. Maintenance

8.1. Cleaning

  • After each use, wipe the steel probes with a clean, dry cloth to remove any residue.
  • Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents, as these can damage the probes or the meter casing.
  • Clean the main body of the meter with a soft, damp cloth if necessary, then dry thoroughly.

8.2. Storage

  • Store the meter in its original packaging or a protective case to prevent damage to the probes.
  • Keep the meter in a cool, dry environment, away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.
  • Remove batteries if the meter will not be used for an extended period (e.g., several weeks or months) to prevent battery leakage and potential damage to the device.

9. Troubleshooting
