1. Introduction and Overview

The X-Sense XP0H-SN is a 2-in-1 combination alarm designed to detect both smoke and carbon monoxide, providing reliable 24/7 protection. This standalone unit is certified to meet UL 217 and UL 2034 safety standards. It features a 10-year sealed lithium battery, eliminating the need for frequent battery changes.

Please Note: The XP0H-SN is a basic standalone unit; it does not support wireless interconnection, does not have Wi-Fi, and cannot be used with a base station. For an interconnected version, please refer to other X-Sense models.

3. Setup and Installation

The XP0H-SN alarm is designed for easy installation. It comes with an extra-large 5.7-inch (145 mm) mounting bracket to cover existing screw holes or ceiling stains, ensuring a clean finish.

1. Choose a Location: Install the alarm on a ceiling or wall. For optimal smoke detection, place it in the center of the ceiling. For carbon monoxide detection, place it at breathing height in sleeping areas and living spaces. Avoid placing it near windows, doors, or areas with high humidity or extreme temperatures.
2. Mount the Bracket: Use the provided screws and anchor plugs to securely attach the large mounting bracket to your chosen location.
3. Activate the Alarm: The alarm is automatically activated once fully mounted onto the bracket. Ensure the 'ON' switch is engaged on the back of the unit.
4. Attach the Alarm: Align the alarm with the mounting bracket and twist clockwise until it clicks securely into place.

4. Operating Instructions

The XP0H-SN features an easy-to-read LCD screen that displays real-time carbon monoxide (CO) levels and battery life. The LCD screen remains off during standby mode to avoid disturbing sleep and only illuminates during an alarm or test.

• Normal Operation: In normal conditions, the LCD will show '0 PPM' for CO levels. A green LED indicator will flash every 60 seconds, indicating proper operation.
• CO Alarm: If carbon monoxide is detected, the alarm will sound with a specific pattern, and the LCD will display the CO concentration in PPM.
• Smoke Alarm: If smoke is detected, the alarm will sound with a distinct pattern.
• Fault/Low Battery: A yellow LED will flash, and the alarm will chirp to indicate a fault or low battery.

5. Testing the Alarm

Regular testing ensures your alarm is functioning correctly. The XP0H-SN has a built-in self-test feature that automatically checks sensors, electronics, and battery every 60 seconds.

1. Manual Test: Press and hold the 'TEST/SILENCE' button on the front of the alarm for a few seconds. The alarm will sound, and the LCD will illuminate, indicating that the sensors are active. Release the button to stop the test.
2. Smoke Test: Direct smoke (from a smoke detector tester spray, not an open flame) towards the smoke inlets for an adequate duration (more than 20 seconds) to trigger the sensor. The alarm should sound.

6. Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your X-Sense XP0H-SN alarm, follow these maintenance guidelines:

• Monthly Cleaning: Gently vacuum the alarm cover once a month using a soft brush attachment to remove dust and dirt.
• Weekly Test: Test the alarm weekly by pressing the 'TEST/SILENCE' button.
• Battery Life: The 10-year sealed lithium battery is non-replaceable. Once the maximum lifetime (10 years) is reached, the unit will beep 2 times every 30 seconds to indicate that it is time to deactivate and replace the alarm.
• Environmental Conditions: Do not locate the alarm in areas where the temperature is below 40°F (4.4°C) or above 100°F (37.8°C), or in areas where the humidity is higher than 85%. Constant exposure to high or low temperatures or high humidity may reduce the battery life.

9. Safety Warnings

WARNING: CARBON MONOXIDE CANNOT BE SEEN OR SMELLED BUT CAN KILL YOU. IF THE ALARM SOUNDS:

1. Operate the TEST/SILENCE button.
2. Call your emergency services (Fire Dept. or 911).
3. Immediately move outside, and make sure that all the people in the house have evacuated the premises or have access to fresh air. Do not re-enter the premises until they have been aired out, and your alarm remains in its normal condition. If it is not possible to move out, stay close to an open door/window until the emergency service responders have arrived.
4. After following steps 1-3, if your alarm reactivates within a 24-hour period, repeat steps 1-3 and call a qualified appliance technician to investigate for sources of CO from fuel-burning equipment and appliances, and inspect for proper operation of this equipment. If problems are identified during this inspection, have the equipment serviced immediately. Note any combustion equipment not inspected by the technician and consult the manufacturer directly for more information about CO safety and this equipment. Make sure that motor vehicles are not, and have not been, operating in an attached garage or adjacent to the residence.

Do not deactivate the alarm unit until the end-of-life signal has been heard. Once the maximum lifetime (10 years) is reached, this unit will beep 2 times every 30 seconds to indicate that it is time to deactivate and replace the alarm.
