4. Installation Guide

4.2 Mounting the Unit

  1. Remove the existing car stereo from your vehicle's dashboard.
  2. Install the mounting sleeve (if applicable) into the dashboard opening.
  3. Make all necessary electrical connections using the wiring harness.
  4. Slide the CARBON-903B unit into the mounting sleeve until it locks into place.

5. Basic Operation

5.1 Power On/Off

  • Press the PWR/MOD button to turn the unit ON.
  • Press and hold the PWR/MOD button to turn the unit OFF.

5.2 Volume Control

  • Rotate the central knob clockwise to increase volume.
  • Rotate the central knob counter-clockwise to decrease volume.

5.3 Mode Selection

  • Press the PWR/MOD button repeatedly to cycle through available modes: FM, USB, AUX, Bluetooth.

5.4 Mute Function

  • Press the MUTE button to instantly silence the audio. Press again to restore volume.

5.5 Setting the Clock

  • With the unit ON, press the CLK button to display the time.
  • Press and hold the CLK button until the hour digits flash.
  • Use the VOL +/- (rotary knob) or PREV/NEXT buttons to adjust the hour.
  • Press CLK again to switch to minute adjustment.
  • Use the VOL +/- or PREV/NEXT buttons to adjust the minutes.
  • Press CLK once more to save and exit.

6. Audio Playback

6.1 Bluetooth Operation

  1. Pairing:
    • Turn on the car stereo.
    • Enable Bluetooth on your mobile device.
    • Search for available devices and select "CARBON-903B" (or similar name).
    • If prompted for a password, enter "0000".
    • Once paired, the Bluetooth icon on the stereo's display will illuminate.
  2. Audio Streaming: Play music from your paired device. Use the PREV/NEXT buttons on the stereo or remote to skip tracks.
  3. Hands-Free Calling:
    • When a call comes in, the unit will display the caller ID (if supported).
    • Press the Answer button (often the central knob or a dedicated phone button) to accept the call.
    • Press the End Call button to hang up.

6.2 USB Playback

  1. Insert a USB flash drive into the USB port. The unit will automatically switch to USB mode and begin playback.
  2. Use the PREV/NEXT buttons to skip tracks.
  3. Press the RPT button for repeat playback (e.g., repeat current track, repeat all).
  4. Press the RDM button for random playback.

6.3 AUX Input

  1. Connect an external audio device (e.g., MP3 player, smartphone) to the AUX input jack using a 3.5mm audio cable.
  2. Press the PWR/MOD button until "AUX" is displayed.
  3. Control playback from your external device.

6.4 FM Radio Operation

  1. Press the PWR/MOD button to select FM mode.
  2. Automatic Scan: Press and hold the BND button to automatically scan and store strong stations into presets.
  3. Manual Tuning: Press the PREV/NEXT buttons briefly to fine-tune the frequency. Press and hold to seek the next strong station.
  4. Preset Stations: Use the numbered buttons (1-6) to select stored preset stations. To store a station, tune to the desired frequency, then press and hold a numbered button (1-6) until you hear a beep.

7.1 Equalizer (EQ)

  • Press the EQ button repeatedly to cycle through preset equalizer modes such as POP, ROCK, CLASS, JAZZ, FLAT, etc.

7.2 Bass/Treble/Balance/Fader

  • Press the central knob (or a dedicated AUDIO button if available) repeatedly to access audio settings like BASS, TREBLE, BALANCE (left/right), and FADER (front/rear).
  • Rotate the central knob to adjust the selected setting.
