1. Introduction

The D Debra ER-280 Wireless In-Ear Monitor System is designed for professional audio monitoring applications, including stage performances, band rehearsals, recording studios, and live events. This system provides reliable UHF wireless signal transmission, ensuring clear and detailed audio monitoring for performers and audio engineers.

3. Product Overview

3.1. Transmitter (ER-280)

The transmitter unit sends the audio signal wirelessly to the bodypack receivers. It features input connections for audio sources and controls for managing the wireless signal.

  • Earphone Jack: 3.5mm output for direct monitoring.
  • Earphone VOL: Volume control for the earphone jack.
  • Channel Display: Shows the currently selected frequency channel.
  • Select Button: Used to change the frequency channel.
  • AF-R / AF-L: Audio Frequency Right/Left indicators.
  • Switch: Power ON/OFF button.

  • DC IN (12V-18V): Power input for the adapter.
  • AF IN (R) / AF IN (L): XLR audio input jacks for right and left channels (mono input).

3.2. Bodypack Receiver

The bodypack receiver is a portable unit that receives the wireless audio signal from the transmitter and delivers it to the connected earphones.

  • Earphone Output: 3.5mm jack for connecting in-ear earbuds.
  • Volume Control: Adjusts the listening volume for the earphones.
  • Channel Display: Shows the selected frequency channel.
  • Channel Select Button: Used to match the frequency with the transmitter.
  • Battery Compartment: Holds two AA 1.5V batteries.

4. Setup Instructions

4.1. Transmitter Setup

  1. Connect Antenna: Screw the provided antenna onto the ANTENNA interface on the rear panel of the transmitter.
  2. Connect Power: Plug the power adapter into the DC IN (12V-18V) port on the rear panel and then into a power outlet.
  3. Connect Audio Source: Use the audio cables to connect your audio source (e.g., sound console, mixer, sound card) to the AF IN (R) and AF IN (L) XLR inputs on the rear panel. Adjust the AF LEVEL controls as needed.
  4. Power On: Press the power switch on the front panel to turn on the transmitter. The channel display will light up.

4.2. Receiver Setup

  1. Install Batteries: Open the battery compartment on the bodypack receiver and insert two AA 1.5V batteries, ensuring correct polarity.
  2. Connect Earphones: Plug your in-ear earbuds into the 3.5mm earphone output jack on the receiver.
  3. Power On: Turn on the receiver. The channel display will light up.
  4. Match Frequency: Press the "channel select" button on the receiver to match the frequency displayed on the transmitter. Ensure both units are on the same channel for proper operation.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Channel Selection

The system offers 16 preset frequency bands to avoid interference. To change the channel:

  1. On the transmitter, press the "SELECT" button to cycle through the available channels.
  2. On the bodypack receiver, press the "channel select" button to match the channel displayed on the transmitter.
  3. Ensure both the transmitter and receiver are set to the same channel for a stable connection.

5.2. Volume Adjustment

  • Transmitter Output Volume: Use the "Earphone VOL" knob on the transmitter's front panel to adjust the volume for direct monitoring via the transmitter's earphone jack.
  • Receiver Output Volume: Use the volume control on the bodypack receiver to adjust the listening volume for the connected earphones.
  • Input Level: Adjust the "AF LEVEL" knobs (Right/Left) on the transmitter's rear panel to control the audio input sensitivity from your source device.

5.3. Signal Transmission

The ER-280 system utilizes UHF transmission for strong penetration and continuous frequency, aiming to minimize dead spots. The effective operating distance is approximately 50 meters (160-180 feet) in open environments. For optimal performance, avoid thick walls, glass, and metal obstructions that can interfere with the wireless signal.

7. Troubleshooting
