Introduction

Thank you for choosing the Kinderkraft I-SPARK i-Size car seat. This manual provides essential information for the correct installation, safe use, and maintenance of your car seat. Please read these instructions carefully before use and keep them for future reference. The I-SPARK i-Size is a 2-in-1 car seat designed for children from 100 to 150 cm in height (approximately 3.5 to 12 years old or 15-36 kg), compliant with the latest R129 i-Size standard.

Important Safety Information

Always prioritize your child's safety. Failure to follow these instructions may result in serious injury.

  • The car seat must always be installed using the vehicle's 3-point seat belt.
  • Ensure the car seat is securely fastened and the child is correctly restrained before every journey.
  • Never leave your child unattended in the car seat.
  • Do not use the car seat if it has been involved in an accident, even if there is no visible damage. Internal damage may compromise its safety.
  • The I-SPARK i-Size features a reinforced three-layer H-GUARD headrest system and SPS (Side Protection System) reinforced side protectors to absorb energy during collisions, protecting the child's head, shoulders, and spine.
  • The car seat has been rigorously tested, including frontal and lateral impacts at increased speeds, to ensure compliance with the R129 i-Size standard.
  • Do not modify the car seat or use accessories not approved by the manufacturer.

Setup and Installation

The I-SPARK i-Size car seat is designed for forward-facing installation using the vehicle's 3-point seat belt. It can be installed in any car, including older models without ISOFIX.

Car Seat Installation (100-150 cm)

  1. Place the car seat on the vehicle's seat, ensuring it is stable and flush against the backrest. The car seat's backrest can be adjusted to match the angle of the vehicle's seat for a snug fit.
  2. Seat your child in the car seat.
  3. Route the vehicle's 3-point seat belt through the designated belt guides. The lap belt should pass under the armrests and across the child's hips, while the diagonal shoulder belt should pass through the red guide near the child's shoulder and across their chest.
  4. Buckle the seat belt and pull it taut to remove any slack. Ensure the belt is not twisted.
  5. Verify that the headrest is adjusted to the correct height, so the shoulder belt passes correctly over the child's shoulder, not on their neck or off their shoulder.

Booster Seat Installation (140-150 cm)

For older children between 140 and 150 cm, the backrest can be removed to use the seat as a booster cushion. This option is suitable if the child is uncomfortable in the full car seat but the vehicle's seat belt does not pass correctly over their shoulder and mid-chest without the booster.

  1. Remove the backrest from the seat base according to the instructions provided in the full manual (refer to the detailed diagram in the physical manual).
  2. Place the booster cushion on the vehicle's seat.
  3. Seat your child on the booster cushion.
  4. Route the vehicle's 3-point seat belt through the designated guides on the booster cushion. Ensure the lap belt is low across the child's hips and the shoulder belt crosses the center of their shoulder and chest.
  5. Buckle the seat belt and pull it taut.
