4. Installation Guide

The Mangoal Dash Cam is designed for an integrated, OEM-style installation. Follow these steps carefully. Two power options are available: Auto-Dimming Rearview Mirror Plug Power Adapter or OBD Power Adapter.

4.1. Front Dash Cam Installation (Auto-Dimming Power Adapter)

This method is suitable for vehicles with an auto-dimming rearview mirror function. It does not support Parking Mode.

  1. Use the provided crowbar tool to gently pry off the rain-fall sensor cover located behind the rearview mirror.
  2. Carefully remove the interior mirror plug.
  3. Connect the Y-cable from the Auto-Dimming Adapter to the mirror plug and the dash cam.
  4. Hide the cable neatly within the existing wiring harness using the strap.
  5. Aim the dash cam towards the interior rearview mirror and close the dash cam housing securely.
  6. Connect the Y-cable to the dash cam and hide any excess cable.
  7. Recover and reattach the sensor cover.

4.2. Front Dash Cam Installation (OBD Power Adapter)

This method supports Parking Mode and is an alternative if your vehicle does not have an auto-dimming function. This is the second part of the installation video above.

  1. Locate the OBD port, typically under the dashboard on the driver's side.
  2. Connect the OBD Power Adapter to the OBD port.
  3. Route the power cable from the OBD port along the vehicle's interior trim, tucking it neatly to conceal it. Use the provided crowbar tool to assist in hiding the cable along the A-pillar and headliner towards the dash cam.
  4. Connect the power cable to the dash cam.

4.3. Rear Camera Installation

The rear camera provides additional coverage for the rear of your vehicle.

  1. Connect the rear cam cable to the dashcam host.
  2. Route the rear cam power cable along the ceiling and side trim, using the car wire trim tool to hide the wiring harness.
  3. Hide any excess wiring harnesses in appropriate locations, such as behind the rear seats or under the trunk lining.
  4. Mount the rear camera on the rear glass indoors.
  5. Open the "SkyCamm" APP on your smartphone to connect to the dash camera. Enter the camera preview interface, adjust the angle of the rear cam, and secure it.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Power On/Off

The dash cam will automatically power on and begin recording when the vehicle's ignition is turned on. It will power off automatically when the ignition is turned off.

5.2. Video Recording

The dual dash cam records video at Ultra HD 4K (3840x2160) for the front camera and Full HD 1080P for the rear camera. This allows for clear capture of details such as road signs and license plates. The front camera has a 150-degree wide angle, and the rear camera has a 140-degree wide angle to minimize blind spots.

5.3. Loop Recording

The dash cam features loop recording, which continuously records video in 1, 3, or 5-minute segments. When the memory card is full, the oldest videos will be overwritten automatically to make space for new recordings. The included 128GB MicroSD card provides approximately 8 hours of recording time before overwriting.

5.4. Night Vision

Equipped with a Sony Sensor, f/1.8 aperture, WDR (Wide Dynamic Range), and a 6-layer lens, the dash cam provides superior night vision capabilities, ensuring clear recordings even in low-light conditions.

5.5. Built-in WiFi and App Control

The dash cam features built-in WiFi for faster data transfer. Download the free "SkyCamm" app to your smartphone to:

  • View real-time video footage.
  • Download or transfer important footage to your phone or PC.
  • Adjust camera settings (e.g., speaker volume, video resolution, loop recording duration, exposure compensation, WDR, time watermark, G-sensor sensitivity, parking mode settings).

5.6. Parking Monitor

When connected via the OBD Power Adapter, the dash cam can automatically switch to Parking Mode. This provides 24-hour protection by recording incidents while your vehicle is parked. If the OBD II port is occupied, a "Fuse Box Power Adapter" (ASIN: B0CXXXV4YG) can be used for the same purpose.

5.7. G-Sensor

The built-in G-Sensor automatically detects sudden movements or collisions. In the event of an impact, the current video footage will be locked and protected from being overwritten, serving as crucial evidence.

6. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your Mangoal Dash Cam, refer to the following common problems and solutions:

  • Cannot connect to the mobile app via WiFi:
Ensure your mobile phone's CarPlay or Android Auto is turned off. Mobile phones typically have only one WiFi connection channel, so connecting to the camera's WiFi will disconnect other car-related WiFi connections. After viewing or transferring footage, delete the camera WiFi network from your phone's WiFi list or click "Forget This Network" to prevent automatic reconnection and interference with CarPlay/Android Auto.
  • Dash cam not powering on:
Check all power connections. Ensure the power adapter is securely plugged into both the vehicle's power source (mirror plug or OBD port) and the dash cam. Verify that the vehicle's ignition is on if using the auto-dimming adapter.
  • Video quality issues:
Ensure the camera lenses are clean and free from obstructions. Check the video resolution settings in the mobile app. Format the MicroSD card regularly to maintain optimal performance.
  • Parking Monitor not working:
Confirm that the dash cam is powered via the OBD Power Adapter. The Auto-Dimming Power Adapter does not support Parking Mode.
