Setup and Installation

The RetroSound Laguna Radio features a modular design for flexible installation in various classic vehicle dashboards. Assembly is required.

Mounting the Unit

The radio unit utilizes a modular mounting system. Secure the main chassis using the provided mounting strap and hardware.

Installing InfiniMount Brackets and Knob Shafts

The patented InfiniMount brackets allow for precise positioning of the control shafts at virtually any angle, accommodating various dashboard configurations.

Wiring Connections

Connect the provided wiring harness to the radio unit and then to your vehicle's power, ground, speaker, and antenna connections. Ensure correct polarity for all connections. The unit features a built-in 275-watt (peak power) Mosfet amplifier.

  • Power: Connect the yellow wire to constant 12V, red wire to switched 12V (ignition), and black wire to ground.
  • Speakers: Connect speaker wires to the appropriate vehicle speakers.
  • Antenna: Connect your vehicle's antenna cable.
  • Auxiliary Input: Use the 3.5mm jack for portable devices.
  • USB: Connect USB devices for media playback or charging.

Operating Instructions

The RetroSound Laguna Radio is controlled via mechanical knobs and can also be operated by a remote control (if included).

Basic Functions

  • Power On/Off: Press the volume knob to turn the unit on or off.
  • Volume Control: Rotate the volume knob to adjust the audio level.
  • Source Selection: Use the source button or knob to cycle through AM, FM, Bluetooth, Auxiliary, and USB inputs.
  • Tuning: Use the tuning knobs to select radio stations.

AM/FM RDS Tuner

The unit features an AM/FM RDS tuner with 30 presets. RDS (Radio Data System) displays station information where available.

  • Saving Presets: Tune to your desired station, then press and hold a preset button (or follow on-screen instructions if applicable) to save.
  • Recalling Presets: Press the corresponding preset button to recall a saved station.
  • Selectable Tuner Frequencies: The tuner supports frequencies for USA, EUR, AUS, JAP, and RUS regions. Refer to the settings menu to select the appropriate region for optimal reception.

Bluetooth Pairing

The radio includes built-in Bluetooth Version 5.0 with an external microphone for hands-free calling and audio streaming from compatible devices like smartphones.

  1. Ensure Bluetooth is enabled on your mobile device.
  2. Select "Bluetooth" as the source on the radio unit.
  3. On your mobile device, search for available Bluetooth devices. The radio will appear as "RetroSound" or similar.
  4. Select the radio from the list to pair. A confirmation tone or message may indicate successful pairing.
  5. Once paired, you can stream audio or make/receive calls using the external microphone.

Auxiliary Input and USB Playback

Connect portable audio devices to the 3.5mm auxiliary input jack. For USB playback, insert a USB drive containing WAV or WMA format audio files into the USB port.

Maintenance

  • Cleaning: Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the unit's surface. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents.
