4. Setup and Installation

Follow these steps to properly install your WL-200 J-Style Wheel Lock:

  1. Measure for Correct Fit: Before installation, it is crucial to determine the correct length required for your trailer. Measure the distance from the inside of the leaf spring to the outside face of the wheel rim. This specific WL-200 model is the "Short" version, designed for measurements less than 8-1/2 inches.

  3. Position the Lock Bar: Place the J-style wheel lock bar over the trailer wheel, ensuring the curved part of the 'J' hooks around the wheel rim and the straight bar extends towards the leaf spring. The lock is designed to fit any lug pattern.
  4. Align with Leaf Spring: Slide the lock bar until the end with the hole aligns with the leaf spring. The lock bar should sit snugly against the wheel and the leaf spring.
  5. Insert Puck Lock: Once the lock bar is correctly positioned, insert the provided puck lock into the designated opening at the end of the lock bar.
  6. Secure the Lock: Use one of the provided keys to turn the puck lock, securing the wheel lock in place. Ensure the lock is fully engaged and cannot be removed without the key.

5. Operation

To operate your WL-200 J-Style Wheel Lock:

  • Locking: Follow the installation steps in Section 4. Once the lock bar is in place, insert the puck lock and turn the key to secure it. Remove the key and store it in a safe location.
  • Unlocking: Insert the key into the puck lock and turn it to disengage the locking mechanism. Remove the puck lock from the bar, then remove the lock bar from the wheel.

The unique key design of the puck lock helps prevent lock picking and unauthorized key duplication.

6. Maintenance

To ensure the longevity and reliable performance of your wheel lock:

  • Cleaning: Periodically clean the lock bar and puck lock with a damp cloth to remove dirt and debris. Avoid harsh chemicals that may damage the powder-coated finish.
  • Lubrication: Apply a small amount of graphite lubricant or a silicone-based spray to the puck lock mechanism every 6-12 months, or as needed, to ensure smooth operation. Do not use oil-based lubricants as they can attract dirt.
  • Inspection: Regularly inspect the lock for any signs of wear, damage, or corrosion. If any significant damage is observed, discontinue use and contact customer support.

7. Troubleshooting

If you encounter issues with your WL-200 J-Style Wheel Lock, consider the following:

  • Lock does not fit: Double-check the compatibility requirements in Section 2. Ensure your trailer has leaf springs, 15-inch or 16-inch wheels, and no brakes. Verify your measurement from the leaf spring to the rim to confirm the "Short" version is appropriate (less than 8-1/2 inches).
  • Puck lock is stiff or difficult to turn: Apply a graphite or silicone-based lubricant to the lock mechanism. Ensure the key is fully inserted and free of debris.
  • Keys are lost: Contact Proven Industries customer support for assistance with key replacement. Note that the unique key design prevents easy duplication.
