1. Introduction

This manual provides detailed instructions for the SKYLOONG GK87 V3 TKL Wireless Mechanical Keyboard. It covers setup, operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting to ensure optimal performance and user experience. The GK87 V3 TKL keyboard features versatile connectivity options, a customizable split spacebar, programmable rotary knobs, hot-swappable Gateron G Pro switches, and RGB backlighting.

3. Setup

3.1 Connectivity Modes

The GK87 V3 TKL keyboard supports three connectivity modes:

1. 2.4G Wireless Mode: For low-latency wireless connection, ideal for gaming. Use the included USB dongle.
2. Bluetooth 5.1 Mode: For seamless switching between multiple devices (PCs, laptops, tablets, phones). Suitable for office and Mac users.
3. USB-C Wired Mode: For a direct, stable connection and charging.

To switch between modes, locate the switch on the side of the keyboard. For 2.4G wireless, ensure the USB dongle is plugged into your device. For Bluetooth, pair the keyboard with your device as per standard Bluetooth pairing procedures.

3.2 Initial Charging

The keyboard is equipped with a 3600mAh Li-Battery. Before first use, it is recommended to fully charge the keyboard using the provided USB-C cable. Connect the cable to the keyboard's USB-C port and a power source (e.g., computer USB port or wall adapter).

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Split Spacebar Functionality

The GK87 V3 TKL features an innovative split spacebar design. This allows for customizable "Tap-Hold" options, where each segment of the spacebar can be assigned to a different key function or combination. This feature can enhance typing efficiency by utilizing the thumb for more than just the space function.

4.2 Programmable Rotary Knobs

The keyboard includes three full programmable rotary knobs. These knobs can be customized to perform various functions, such as adjusting volume, backlight brightness, or zoom levels. Refer to the software section for detailed customization instructions.

4.3 RGB Illumination

The keyboard features full RGB illumination with 16.8 million colors per key. It includes 8 fixed light modes and additional modes that can be customized via software. The backlighting can also synchronize with music. Use the rotary knobs for quick brightness adjustments or the software for advanced customization.

4.4 Software Customization

The SKYLOONG Professional Driver software allows for extensive customization of key functions, macro settings, and RGB lighting effects. This includes remapping keys, setting up complex macros, and designing personalized lighting profiles. The software is essential for unlocking the full potential of the programmable features.

5. Maintenance

5.1 Hot-Swappable Switches

The GK87 V3 TKL keyboard features hot-swappable sockets compatible with most MX style 3-pin and 5-pin mechanical switches. This allows for easy replacement of worn or faulty switches, or customization with different switch types (e.g., tactile, linear, clicky) without soldering.

To replace a switch:

1. Use the included keycap puller to gently remove the keycap.
2. Use the included switch puller to carefully grip and pull out the switch from its socket.
3. Align the pins of the new switch with the holes in the socket and press firmly until it clicks into place. Ensure pins are not bent.
4. Reattach the keycap.

5.2 Keycap Replacement and Cleaning

The keyboard comes with durable Ti-Grey double shot OEM profile PBT keycaps. These keycaps are resistant to shine and wear. To clean the keycaps, remove them using the keycap puller and wash with mild soap and water. Ensure they are completely dry before reattaching. The split spacebar can also be replaced or customized.

6. Troubleshooting

• Keyboard not responding:
  • Ensure the keyboard is charged.
  • Check the connectivity mode switch (2.4G, Bluetooth, or Wired) and ensure it matches your connection method.
  • For 2.4G, ensure the USB dongle is securely plugged in.
  • For Bluetooth, re-pair the device if necessary.
  • In wired mode, ensure the USB-C cable is properly connected to both the keyboard and your computer.
• Software issues (e.g., keys not remapping, knobs not functioning as programmed):
  • Ensure the keyboard is connected via USB-C cable when using the software for customization, as some functions may require a wired connection for proper recognition and application of settings.
  • Verify you have the correct and latest version of the SKYLOONG Professional Driver software for your specific model (GK87 V3).
  • Restart the software and/or your computer.
  • Some users report that settings may not persist or apply correctly if the software is not running in the background or if the keyboard is not wired during configuration.
• Fn key remapping:
  • The Fn key on this keyboard may have fixed hardware wiring, preventing it from being reassigned through software. This is a design limitation.
• Wireless connectivity instability:
  • Ensure there are no significant obstructions or sources of interference between the keyboard and your device (for 2.4G and Bluetooth).
  • If experiencing frequent disconnections, try using the wired USB-C connection for a stable link.
• Keycaps not shine-through:
  • The included PBT keycaps are not designed to be shine-through. The RGB lighting illuminates around and beneath the keycaps, not through the legends themselves.
