Setup and Installation
Proper installation is crucial for the performance and longevity of your CPU cooler. Follow the steps below carefully based on your motherboard's CPU socket type.
General Installation Procedures
- Prepare the CPU Surface: Ensure the CPU's Integrated Heat Spreader (IHS) is clean and free of any dust or old thermal compound.
- Apply Thermal Compound: Apply a small amount of thermal compound (included) to the center of the CPU IHS. A pea-sized dot is usually sufficient.
- Remove Protective Sticker: Before mounting, carefully peel off the protective sticker from the cold plate of the waterblock.

Intel LGA1700 Installation
- Assemble Intel Backplate: Use the outer mounting holes on the Intel backplate. Secure the backplate screws using the blue washers.
- Install Backplate: From the back side of the motherboard, install the assembled Intel backplate, ensuring the screws pass through the motherboard mounting holes.
- Install Standoffs: Install four blue standoffs onto the backplate screws from the front side of the motherboard.
- Install Intel Brackets: Install two Intel brackets onto the standoffs. Ensure the backplate screws pass through the LGA1700 holes on the brackets.
- Secure Brackets: Secure the brackets with the provided nuts.
AMD AM5/AM4 Installation
- Remove Motherboard Brackets: For AMD AM5 and AM4 motherboards, remove the existing plastic brackets around the CPU socket. Keep the original backplate.
- Install Standoffs: Install four red standoffs onto the motherboard's backplate screws.
- Install Metal Brackets: Install two metal brackets onto the standoffs, securing them with screws for AMD.
- Secure Metal Brackets: Secure the metal brackets using a screwdriver.
Mounting the Waterblock
- Position Waterblock: Carefully place the waterblock onto the CPU, ensuring the waterblock bracket nuts align with the screws on the installed brackets.
- Tighten Waterblock: Tighten the nuts to secure the waterblock evenly. Tighten in a cross pattern to ensure even pressure.
Connecting Cables
- Waterblock Power: Connect the waterblock's 4-pin PWM header to your motherboard's CPU_OPT or WATER_PUMP header to power the water pump.
- Fan ARGB Lighting: Connect the fan's 3-pin ARGB header to your motherboard's 3-pin +5V ARGB lighting socket for customizable lighting effects.
- Fan Power: Connect the 4-pin PWM headers from the fans to the included fan hub. Then, connect the fan hub to your motherboard's CPU_FAN socket.

Operation
The Thermalright Frozen Edge 360 Black CPU Water Cooler is designed for efficient and quiet operation. The integrated PWM (Pulse Width Modulation) function allows the fan speed to automatically adjust based on the CPU temperature, providing optimal airflow and minimizing noise levels when not under heavy load.
- Pump Speed: The pump operates at a speed of 3300RPM ±10%, ensuring consistent coolant circulation.
- Fan Speed: The TL-B12 fans operate up to 2150RPM ±10%.
- Noise Level: The noise level is ≤28.1DBA, contributing to a quieter computing environment.
- Airflow: Each fan provides an air volume of 69CFM (MAX).
- Static Pressure: The fans generate a static pressure of 2.87mmH2O (MAX), ideal for radiator cooling.

Maintenance
Regular maintenance helps ensure the longevity and efficiency of your liquid cooler. While closed-loop systems require minimal maintenance, periodic checks are recommended.
- Dust Removal: Periodically clean the radiator fins and fan blades to prevent dust buildup, which can impede airflow and cooling performance. Use compressed air or a soft brush.
- Hose Inspection: Check the polymer-sleeved water pipes for any signs of kinks, leaks, or damage.
- Connection Check: Ensure all power and ARGB connections remain secure.
Troubleshooting
If you encounter issues with your Thermalright Frozen Edge 360 Black CPU Water Cooler, consider the following common solutions:
- No Power/Fans Not Spinning: Verify that all power cables (waterblock 4-pin PWM, fan hub to CPU_FAN) are securely connected to the motherboard. Check motherboard BIOS settings to ensure fan headers are enabled and configured correctly.
- Poor Cooling Performance: Ensure the waterblock is securely mounted to the CPU with adequate and evenly spread thermal compound. Check for any obstructions to airflow through the radiator. Confirm that the fans are spinning and oriented correctly to push or pull air through the radiator.
- Excessive Noise: Check if fan blades are obstructed or if mounting screws are loose. Ensure the pump is not running dry (though unlikely with a closed-loop system, verify proper installation).
- RGB Lighting Issues: Confirm the 3-pin +5V ARGB header is correctly connected to the motherboard. Check motherboard software for RGB control and ensure it's properly configured.
