Thermalright TL-S12-S X3 120mm ARGB PWM CPU/Case Fan Instruction Manual

1. Product Overview

The Thermalright TL-S12-S X3 is a high-performance 120mm fan designed for both CPU cooling and case airflow. It features Addressable RGB (ARGB) lighting effects and Pulse Width Modulation (PWM) for precise speed control, ensuring optimal cooling performance with minimal noise. The fan incorporates S-FDB (Fluid Dynamic Bearing) technology for extended lifespan and stable operation.

2. Installation Guide

2.1 Fan Mounting

To install the fan, first determine the desired airflow direction (intake or exhaust) within your PC case or on your CPU cooler/radiator. Secure the fan using the provided screws. Ensure the fan is firmly attached to prevent vibration.

2.2 ARGB Lighting Wiring

Connect the 3-pin ARGB lighting headers from the fan(s) to your motherboard's +5V ARGB header. Ensure the arrows on the connectors align correctly to prevent damage. For multiple fans, daisy-chain the ARGB headers as shown in the video. The maximum number of fans for the TL-S12S series connected to a single motherboard 3-pin ARGB socket is 3.

2.3 PWM Fan Speed Wiring

Connect the 4-pin PWM fan header from the fan(s) to your motherboard's 4-pin fan socket. This allows the motherboard to control the fan speed based on system temperature. The maximum number of fans connected to a single motherboard fan socket is 3.

3. Operation

3.1 ARGB Lighting Control

The TL-S12-S X3 fans feature vibrant ARGB lighting. Once connected to a compatible motherboard ARGB header, you can control the lighting effects, colors, and patterns using your motherboard's RGB software (e.g., Gigabyte RGB Fusion, ASUS Aura Sync, MSI Mystic Light, ASRock Polychrome Sync). The slim ARGB ring lighting provides a subtle yet aesthetic glow.

3.2 PWM Fan Speed Control

The fan's PWM functionality allows your motherboard to dynamically adjust its speed (up to 1500 RPM) based on the CPU or system temperature. This ensures efficient cooling when needed and quiet operation during lighter loads. You can configure fan curves through your motherboard's BIOS or dedicated software.

4. Maintenance

The Thermalright TL-S12-S X3 fan is equipped with a high-durability S-FDB (Fluid Dynamic Bearing) which is designed for low-friction and low-noise operation, providing a long service life. This fan is largely maintenance-free. Regular cleaning of dust from the fan blades and surrounding areas is recommended to maintain optimal airflow and performance. Do not attempt to disassemble the fan, as this may void the warranty and cause damage.
