1. Important Safeguards

When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons. Read all instructions carefully before operating this appliance.

  • Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles or knobs.
  • To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse the cord, plugs, or the main unit in water or other liquid.
  • Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children.
  • Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before putting on or taking off parts.
  • Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug, or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner.
  • The use of accessory attachments not recommended by the appliance manufacturer may cause injuries.
  • Do not use outdoors.
  • Do not let the cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch hot surfaces.
  • Do not place on or near a hot gas or electric burner, or in a heated oven.
  • Extreme caution must be used when moving an appliance containing hot oil or other hot liquids.
  • Always attach plug to appliance first, then plug cord into the wall outlet. To disconnect, turn any control to 'off', then remove plug from wall outlet.
  • Do not use the appliance for other than intended use.
  • This appliance cooks under pressure. Improper use may result in scalding injury. Make certain unit is properly closed before operating.
  • Never force open the pressure cooker. Ensure internal pressure is completely released before opening.
  • Do not fill the unit over 2/3 full. When cooking foods that expand during cooking, such as rice or dried vegetables, do not fill the unit over 1/2 full.
  • Always check the pressure release valve and float valve for clogging before use.

3. Initial Setup

3.1 Unpacking

  1. Carefully remove all contents from the packaging.
  2. Check that all listed components are present and undamaged.
  3. Remove any protective films or packaging materials from the appliance.

3.2 Initial Cleaning

  1. Wash the inner pot, sealing ring, and condensation collector with warm, soapy water. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely.
  2. Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the main unit in water.

3.3 Placement

  1. Place the pressure cooker on a stable, level, and heat-resistant surface.
  2. Ensure there is adequate space around the cooker for proper ventilation, away from walls or cabinets.
  3. Keep the appliance away from direct heat sources.

3.4 Installing Components

  1. Insert the inner pot into the main unit. Ensure it sits properly and makes full contact with the heating element.
  2. Install the sealing ring firmly into the groove on the underside of the lid.
  3. Attach the condensation collector to the back of the main unit.

4. Operating Instructions

4.1 Preparing for Cooking

  1. Add your ingredients and liquid to the inner pot. Do not exceed the MAX fill line (2/3 full for most foods, 1/2 full for expanding foods like rice).
  2. Place the lid on the cooker, aligning the arrow on the lid with the arrow on the main unit. Rotate the lid clockwise until it locks into place. The lid lock feature ensures safety.
  3. Ensure the steam release valve is set to the 'Sealing' position for pressure cooking.

4.2 Using the Control Panel

The Sokany SK-2402 features a touch screen control panel with various pre-set programs and manual settings.

  • Pre-set Programs: Select from options like Rice, Milk, Porridge, Soup, Borsch, Meat, Stew, Steam, Slow Cook. Each program has a default cooking time.
  • Timer: Use the Timer button to set a delayed start time for cooking.
  • Taste: Adjust the cooking intensity or duration for certain programs.
  • +/- Buttons: Adjust cooking time or other settings manually.
  • Keep Warm: Automatically activates after cooking is complete to keep food warm. Can also be selected manually.

4.3 Starting and Finishing Cooking

  1. Plug the power cord into a grounded electrical outlet.
  2. Select your desired cooking program or set manual time and pressure. The cooker will automatically begin the pre-heating process.
  3. Once cooking is complete, the cooker will beep and may automatically switch to the 'Keep Warm' function.
  4. Pressure Release: There are two methods for releasing pressure:
    • Natural Release: Allow the pressure to dissipate naturally. This is recommended for foamy foods or large cuts of meat. The float valve will drop when pressure is released.
    • Quick Release: Carefully turn the steam release valve to the 'Venting' position. Steam will rapidly escape. Keep hands and face away from the steam. Only use for foods that do not foam.
  5. Once the float valve has dropped, it is safe to open the lid. Rotate the lid counter-clockwise and lift it away from you to avoid steam burns.

5. Maintenance and Cleaning

Regular cleaning and maintenance will ensure the longevity and safe operation of your pressure cooker.

5.1 Before Cleaning

  1. Always unplug the pressure cooker from the power outlet and allow it to cool completely before cleaning.

5.2 Cleaning the Inner Pot

The non-stick inner pot is dishwasher safe for easy cleaning. Alternatively, wash by hand:

  1. Wash with warm, soapy water using a soft sponge or cloth.
  2. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal scouring pads, as these can damage the non-stick coating.
  3. Rinse thoroughly and dry completely before storing.

5.3 Cleaning the Lid

  1. Remove the sealing ring from the lid and wash it with warm, soapy water. Inspect for cracks or damage and replace if necessary.
  2. Clean the steam release valve and float valve, ensuring they are free from food debris.
  3. Wipe the lid with a damp cloth. Do not immerse the lid in water.

5.4 Cleaning the Main Unit

  1. Wipe the exterior of the main unit with a damp cloth.
  2. Clean the condensation collector and reattach it.
  3. Never immerse the main unit in water or any other liquid.

5.5 Storage

Store the pressure cooker in a dry place, away from direct sunlight and out of reach of children.
