3. Setup
3.1. Connecting the Detachable Cable
- Identify the left and right earpieces. The earpieces are typically marked with 'L' for left and 'R' for right.
- Align the 2-pin connector on the cable with the corresponding port on the earpiece. Ensure the pins are correctly oriented to avoid damage.
- Gently push the connector into the earpiece until it clicks securely into place. Do not force the connection.
- Repeat for the other earpiece.

3.2. Selecting and Installing Ear Tips
The KZ Castor comes with various sizes of silicone ear tips to ensure a comfortable and secure fit, which is crucial for optimal sound isolation and audio performance.
- Experiment with different ear tip sizes (small, medium, large) to find the best fit for your ear canals. A good fit will provide excellent passive noise isolation and rich bass response.
- Gently remove the pre-installed ear tips by pulling them off the nozzle.
- Push the desired ear tip onto the nozzle of the earpiece until it is firmly seated.

3.3. Adjusting Sound with Tuning Switches
The KZ Castor features four tuning switches on each earpiece, allowing for 16 different sound profiles. Use a small, non-metallic tool (like a toothpick or the included tool, if any) to adjust these switches.
- Refer to the frequency response chart to understand the effect of each switch combination.
- Switches 1 and 2 typically control bass frequencies.
- Switches 3 and 4 typically control mid and high frequencies.
- Experiment with different switch positions to find your preferred sound signature.

4. Operating Instructions
4.1. Wearing the IEMs
- Insert the earpiece into your ear canal, ensuring a snug fit.
- Loop the cable over the top of your ear. The ear-hook design helps secure the IEMs in place and reduces microphonics (cable noise).
- Adjust the cable length using the chin slider for a comfortable and secure fit.

4.2. Audio Playback
Connect the 3.5mm stereo plug to your audio source (smartphone, DAP, computer, audio interface, etc.). Adjust the volume on your audio source to a comfortable listening level before placing the IEMs in your ears.
The KZ Castor is designed for high-fidelity audio reproduction. For optimal performance, consider using a dedicated headphone amplifier, especially with devices that may have lower power output.
5. Maintenance
5.1. Cleaning the IEMs
- Regularly clean the ear tips with a soft, damp cloth. Ensure they are completely dry before reattaching.
- Gently wipe the earpiece bodies with a dry, soft cloth to remove any dirt or oils.
- Inspect the nozzle grilles for earwax buildup. Use a small, soft brush or a cleaning tool (if provided) to carefully remove any debris. Avoid pushing debris further into the nozzle.
5.2. Cable Care
- When not in use, coil the cable loosely to prevent tangling and kinking.
- Avoid sharp bends or excessive pulling on the cable, especially near the connectors.
- Store the IEMs and cable in a protective case to prevent damage during transport.
