This manual provides detailed instructions for the installation, operation, and troubleshooting of your UCB Alexa Smart Light Bulb. This Bluetooth-connected smart bulb offers tunable white light (2700K-6000K), dimming from 1% to 100%, and control via the BRmesh APP or Alexa voice commands. It is designed for indoor use in various settings such as bedrooms, kitchens, living rooms, and offices.

Setup

Supported Alexa Speakers

The UCB Smart Light Bulb is compatible with the following Alexa speakers:

• Echo Plus (all models)
• Echo Show (all models)
• Echo (all models except 1st Generation)
• Echo Dot (all models except 1st Generation)

Note: Not compatible with Google Home or Apple HomePod.

Pairing with Alexa

There are two methods to pair your UCB Smart Light Bulb with Alexa. It is recommended to pair one light at a time.

Method 1: Direct Alexa Pairing

1. Install the smart bulb into a standard E26 socket.
2. Turn off the light switch.
3. Turn on the light switch. Wait for 10 seconds.
4. Turn off the light switch, then turn it back on.
5. Say to your Alexa speaker: "Alexa/Echo, find device."

Repeat these steps for each bulb you wish to pair.

Method 2: Pairing via BRmesh APP (If Method 1 Fails)

1. Download the BRmesh APP: Search for "BRmesh" in the App Store (iOS) or Google Play Store (Android) and install it.
2. Add Lights in BRmesh APP: Open the BRmesh APP and follow the in-app instructions to add your UCB Smart Light Bulbs.
3. Activate Alexa Pairing State: In the BRmesh APP, tap "Activate Alexa". Then select "OK, Understand, Proceed Step 1", select one light, and tap "Activate". (It is recommended to pair only one light at a time).
4. Discover Devices with Alexa: Say to your Alexa speaker: "Alexa/Echo, find device."

After successful pairing, you can control the lights using Alexa.

Virtual HUB Function

If you have more than 4 Alexa-connected bulbs and some bulbs do not respond to Alexa commands, use the Virtual HUB function within the BRmesh APP. This feature helps manage a larger number of bulbs for improved responsiveness.

Operating Instructions

Alexa Voice Commands

Once paired, you can control your UCB Smart Light Bulbs using voice commands through your Alexa speaker. Replace "First light" with the name you assigned to your bulb in the Alexa app.

• Discover Devices: "Alexa/Echo, find device."
• Adjust Color Temperature: "Alexa, set 'First light' to warm white." (Other options: soft white, white, daylight white, cool white).
• Adjust Brightness: "Alexa, set 'First light' to 50%." (Specify any percentage from 1% to 100%).
• Turn On/Off: "Alexa, turn on 'First light'." / "Alexa, turn off 'First light'."

BRmesh APP Features

The BRmesh APP provides additional control and customization options:

• Dimmable: Adjust brightness from 1% to 100%.
• Adjust Color Temperature: Fine-tune between 2700K (warm white) and 6000K (daylight white).
• Timing Function: Schedule lights to turn on or off at specific times.
• Group Control: Control multiple bulbs simultaneously.
• Single Control: Control individual bulbs.
• Scenes: Create and save custom lighting scenes (e.g., "Reading," "Dinner," "Relax").
• Device Sharing: Share control of your bulbs with family members.
• MESH: Utilizes Bluetooth 5.0 mesh technology for enhanced control distance and bulb quantity.
• Memory: Bulbs retain their last setting when powered off and on.

Flicker-Free Technology

Maintenance

To ensure optimal performance and longevity of your UCB Smart Light Bulb:

• Clean the bulb with a soft, dry cloth when necessary. Do not use liquid cleaners.
• Ensure the bulb is securely screwed into the socket.
• Avoid exposing the bulb to extreme temperatures or direct sunlight for prolonged periods.

Troubleshooting

Q1: A number of lights fail to respond to commands during use.

This can occur if the connection between Alexa and the bulbs is interrupted or if there are too many bulbs for direct Alexa control without a Virtual HUB.

Solution 1: Speaker Reset

• Power off your Alexa speaker.
• Power it back on.
• Wait for 30 seconds thereafter.

Solution 2: Full System Reset

• Power off the Alexa speaker and all smart lights.
• Power on the Alexa speaker.
• Wait for 2 minutes.
• Power on all smart lights.
• Wait for 30 seconds.

Normal operation should now be restored.

Other Common Issues

• Bulb not found during pairing: Ensure the bulb is powered on and within Bluetooth range of your Alexa speaker or smartphone running the BRmesh app. Try Method 2 if Method 1 fails.
• Bluetooth Range Issues: Bluetooth has distance limitations. For larger areas or many bulbs, consider using the Virtual HUB function in the BRmesh APP to extend control.
• Power Outage Behavior: After a power outage, the bulbs will return to their last known state (on/off and settings) due to the memory function.
