1. Introduction

Thank you for purchasing the vidaXL 2-Door File Cabinet. This manual provides essential information for the safe assembly, operation, and maintenance of your new cabinet. Please read these instructions thoroughly before beginning assembly and retain them for future reference. Proper assembly and care will ensure the longevity and functionality of your product.

2. Safety Information

• Read all instructions: Before assembly and use, carefully read and understand all instructions provided in this manual.
• Keep children away: Keep children and pets away from the assembly area. Small parts can be a choking hazard.
• Use appropriate tools: Ensure you have the correct tools for assembly. Do not use power tools unless specifically instructed, as they may overtighten fasteners and damage the product.
• Assembly on a soft surface: Assemble the cabinet on a soft, clean surface (e.g., carpet or cardboard) to prevent scratches.
• Secure to wall: To prevent tipping, this product must be used with the provided wall attachment device. Failure to do so can result in serious injury.
• Weight limits: Do not exceed the maximum weight capacity of 132.2 lbs (60 kg) for the entire cabinet, or 66.1 lbs (30 kg) per shelf.
• Proper placement: Place the cabinet on a level, stable surface.
• Avoid climbing: Do not allow anyone to climb on or hang from the cabinet doors or shelves.

4. Setup & Assembly

Assembly requires two people. Estimated assembly time: 60-90 minutes. Tools required: Phillips head screwdriver, hammer (optional, for wall anchors).

1. Prepare the Base: Attach the bottom panel (B) to the side panels (C) using the provided screws. Ensure all connections are secure.
2. Install Back Panel: Slide the back panel (D) into the grooves on the side and bottom panels. Secure with small nails or screws as indicated in the hardware pack.
3. Attach Top Panel: Place the top panel (A) onto the assembled structure and secure it to the side panels (C) using screws.
4. Install Shelf Pins: Insert the shelf pins into the desired holes on the interior side panels for the adjustable shelf (F).
5. Place Adjustable Shelf: Carefully place the adjustable shelf (F) onto the installed shelf pins. Ensure it is level and stable.

   

6. Attach Doors: Mount the doors (E) to the cabinet using the hinges and screws provided. Adjust hinges as necessary to ensure doors align properly and close smoothly.
7. Install Locking Mechanism: Attach the locking mechanism (G) to the designated door. Ensure the rods align with the catches on the top and bottom of the cabinet frame. Test the lock with the provided keys (H).

   

8. Secure to Wall: Position the cabinet in its final location. Use the wall attachment device (I) to secure the cabinet to a sturdy wall stud. This step is crucial for stability and safety.

5. Operating Instructions

5.1. Locking and Unlocking

• To Lock: Close both doors firmly. Insert a key into the lock cylinder and turn it clockwise until the doors are secured. Remove the key.
• To Unlock: Insert a key into the lock cylinder and turn it counter-clockwise. The doors will release.

5.2. Adjusting Shelves

• To Adjust: Empty the shelf of all contents. Carefully lift the shelf and remove the four shelf pins. Reinsert the shelf pins into the desired holes at the new height. Place the shelf back onto the pins, ensuring it is stable.

6. Maintenance

• Cleaning: Wipe the cabinet surfaces with a damp cloth. For stubborn marks, use a mild soap solution and then wipe dry immediately. Avoid abrasive cleaners or harsh chemicals, as they can damage the powder-coated finish.
• Regular Checks: Periodically check all screws and fasteners to ensure they remain tight. Retighten if necessary.
• Lock Care: If the lock mechanism becomes stiff, a small amount of graphite lubricant can be applied to the keyhole. Do not use oil-based lubricants.

7. Troubleshooting

• Doors do not close properly: Check hinge alignment. Loosen hinge screws slightly, adjust the door position, and retighten. Ensure the cabinet is on a level surface.
• Lock is stiff or not engaging: Ensure the doors are fully closed before attempting to lock. Check if any items inside are obstructing the locking rods. Apply graphite lubricant to the keyhole if necessary.
• Cabinet feels wobbly: Verify that all assembly screws are tightened. Ensure the cabinet is placed on a level surface. Confirm the wall attachment device is securely installed.
• Shelf is not level: Ensure all four shelf pins are fully inserted into corresponding holes at the same height.
