3.1 Power On/Off and Initial Setup
Press the power button to turn on the device. The LCD screen will illuminate. The device will typically start in 'All Metals Mode'.
Video 3.1: This video provides a comprehensive guide on operating the 12-inch VEVOR Metal Detector, covering power-on, sensitivity adjustment, ground balance, and discrimination mode.
3.2 Sensitivity Adjustment
Adjust the critical sound setting. Position the probe approximately 30 cm (12 inches) above the ground and press the SENSITIVITY button to set it around the sixth level. This helps in fine-tuning the detector's responsiveness to targets.
3.3 Ground Balance
For the ground balance mode, ensure the display reads 'ALL METALS'. Adjust the ground balance by pressing the 'GROUND BALANCE' button. If the volume changes when the probe is lifted up or pressed down, adjust until the sounds are consistent. This compensates for mineral content in the soil, preventing false signals.
3.4 Detection Modes
The VEVOR metal detector offers seven distinct detection modes to suit various searching needs:
- All Metals Mode: Detects all types of metals.
- Pinpoint Mode: Helps in precisely locating the detected object.
- Jewelry Mode: Optimized for finding jewelry.
- Coins Mode: Designed to detect coins.
- Debris Mode: Filters out common metallic debris.
- Ornaments Mode: Focuses on detecting ornamental items.
- Custom Mode: Allows users to set their own discrimination preferences.

Figure 3.2: The control panel displaying the seven detection modes.
3.5 Discrimination Mode
To adjust to Discrimination mode, press the 'ALL/DISC' button to switch to the Discrimination mode. This will display 'DISCRIMINATE'. Select the material you wish to detect, such as coins, by adjusting the settings. This feature allows the detector to ignore certain types of metal, focusing only on desired targets.
3.6 Pinpoint Function
After approximately locating the material, proceed to precise searching. Press the pinpoint button, which will lower the volume. Gradually approach the target based on the loudness of the sound. The pinpoint function helps narrow down the exact location of the buried object.
3.7 Using the Bluetooth Headset
The included Bluetooth headset allows you to hear detection signals clearly, even in noisy environments. Pair the headset with the metal detector according to the headset's instructions. This enhances the user experience by providing clear audio feedback.
4. Maintenance
4.1 Cleaning
- After each use, especially in wet or dirty conditions, wipe down the search coil and stem with a damp cloth.
- Ensure the control box is kept dry and clean. Do not immerse the control box in water unless specifically designed for it (refer to IP rating).
- Avoid using abrasive cleaners or solvents that could damage the device's surface.
4.2 Storage
- Store the metal detector in a cool, dry place when not in use.
- If storing for an extended period, remove the batteries to prevent leakage and damage.
- Use the provided handbag for convenient and safe storage.
4.3 Battery Care
- Use only the specified rechargeable batteries and charger provided or recommended by VEVOR.
- Charge batteries fully before first use and whenever the battery indicator shows low power.
- Avoid overcharging or completely draining the batteries, as this can reduce their lifespan.
5. Troubleshooting
5.1 Common Issues and Solutions
- False Signals/Erratic Beeping:
- Ensure proper ground balance for the terrain you are searching.
- Reduce sensitivity if operating in highly mineralized soil or areas with electromagnetic interference.
- Check for nearby large metal objects (e.g., fences, power lines) that might be causing interference. - No Detection/Low Sensitivity:
- Verify that the search coil cable is securely connected to the control box.
- Check battery levels and recharge if necessary.
- Increase sensitivity settings.
- Ensure you are not in a highly discriminated mode that might be filtering out desired targets. - Display Not Working:
- Check battery connection and charge.
- If the issue persists, contact VEVOR customer support.
Important Safety Information:
Do Not Use This Product In Areas With Steel Bars Or Other Metal Structures On The Indoor Floor To Avoid Interference With The Detection Process.
